Mechanism Parts Quantity

Mechanisms are functional but intended for decorative use. A small amount of iron shavings may occur in the initial grinding process. These will decrease with use. To minimize the amount of shavings grind a first batch of beans on finest grind, discard grounds, then wash and dry the mechanism thoroughly before use. Paper filters are recommended when brewing. Coffee Mill Mechanism sold separately.

Assembly1. Tomakethebase,gluetheSides(B),Front(C)andBack(D)together. Aftergluehasdried,positionboxontotheBase(A)andattach.Ifnails areused,alwayspre-drillholestopreventsplitting.

2. Nextglueandornaildrawerpiecestogether.Thefrontofthedrawer hasrabbetedendstofitovertheSides(B).Centerknobondrawer frontandscrewinplace.

3. Ifusingthewheeltypegrinder,markthecenteronthetopsideofTop(E) andcounterbore23⁄8"diameterx1/8"deepandthendrillathroughhole of15⁄8"diameter.YoumayuseForstnerbits23⁄8"(29045,soldseparately) and15⁄8"(68802,soldseparately).

4. Setthelowerflangedgrinderbowlintotheholeandmarkanddrill1/16" pilotholesx7/16"deepinthecounterboredareaforthewoodscrews.

5. Determinelocationofholesforthetwomachinethreadedboltsusedto attachthetopgrinderbowl.Note:Positiontopgrindersowheelisparallel tosides.Markanddrill5/32"holesthroughthetop(E).

6. Sandandfinish. Note:ItmaybeeasierifthemechanismisattachedtotheTop(E) beforethetopisattachedtothebox.

7. Insertthegrindershaftupthroughthelowergrinderbowl.Setthis assemblyintothethroughholeandscrewinplaceusingthesmallsilver screwsprovidedwiththemechanism.Assembleandlowerthetop grinderbowlontothegrindershaft/lowerbowlAttachusingthetwo machinethreadedboltsandnutsprovidedwithmechanism.
