An appeal for support - support for our seminarians

Bishop Robson has recently brought to the attention of the priests the great shortfall in funds for the training of priests for the Diocese of Dunkeld. In a recent e-mail he indicated that last year, through the Ecclesiastical Students’ Fund Collection a total of £9,600.00 was raised across the diocese. Each year it costs between £28,000.00 and £29,000.00 to support a single seminarian in their studies. Currently we are blessed to have several men studying for the priesthood, a good thing for the diocese, but it means that the financial burden of supporting these men will come to around £130,000.00 this year alone. Bishop Stephen is appealing for your generous support in this regard, and whilst there will be a collection for the Ecclesiastical Students’ Fund on Sunday 9th September (the beginning of Vocations Awareness Week) any other donations to help alleviate this burden would be greatly appreciated. Should you wish to make a specific donation for this purpose you can send it directly to the Diocesan Offices (24-28 Lawside Road, Dundee, DD3 6XY) indicating that it is for the support of seminarians in training, or it can be handed to me and I will forward it on to the Diocese along with the collection taken up on the 9th September. Thank you, as always, for your generosity, and for any sacrifices made to help support the priests of the future. God bless, Fr. Martin

Outstanding payments for the parish pilgrimage to Iona should be handed in as soon as possible, please.
