Inspector General Policy
Purpose
To be extremely consistent and persistent in a fair and reasonable manner, so that Corps of Cadets looks
and functions as the top Military/Leadership training in the nation. Also to make sure that rooms anduniforms are maintained to the Corps of Cadets Standard.
Standards:
ROOM STANDARDS. Cadet rooms will be clean, neat, and orderly at all times. Rooms will be inspection
ready between 0730 and 1630. Clothing or other personal items will not be left outside the room, onwindowsills, or in the hallways. Bicycles may only be stored inside the room or on an approved bicycle rack
outside the dorm. Senior and Junior rooms must be clean, neat, and orderly. For further guidance see pages 80
82 of The Standard.
UNIFORMS. All members of the Corps of Cadets will routinely wear the cadet uniform on campus. It is
worn in such a manner as to be a credit to the individual, the Corps of Cadets, and Texas A&M University.
All cadets in any Corps uniform are subject to inspection at any time and will comply with all of the
provisions below. Generally, the uniform of the day is the Class Bravo uniform. For further guidance, seepages 87 119 of The Standard.
Inspector General Standard Operating Procedures
Outfit IG chains will be held ultimately responsible for all failures in room and uniform
inspections. Any failing rooms will result in a restricted weekend for the cadets living in said
rooms, as per The Standard. IG chains will inspect their outfits at least once a week to ensure
proper standards are being maintained. Results will be updated on the GoogleDoc provided by the
3rd Wing IG Chain.
10% grace will be allowed for room failures before ramming the IG Chain.
The grading system will be used as follows:
(E) Is for an excellent room and exceeds the standard (S) Is for an satisfactory room
(M) Is for an Marginal room which means the room is messy (will result in two demerits)
(F) Is for a failed room inspection, which means the room is nowhere near SOL.
Outfits will conduct weekly SOL inspections. The results will be turned into either the 3rd Wing
IG sergeant or officer no later than 1800 on Thursday every week. Failing and Marginal rooms
found during outfit SOL will be reported to the outfit CO or XO and will result in one ram each.
P.T. gear WILL BE WORN TO THE STANDARD OR WILL RESULT IN DEMERITS
The UOD will be followed by Chapter 15 of the Standard; failure to do so will result in
punishment.
Being caught out of uniform while going to class will result in a restricted weekend. If you must
be out of uniform for an exempted reason, a military letter will be provided.
o Exemptions are as follows:
Kinesiology in the previous class and absolutely no way to be in uniform priorto the next class.
Injury which involves casts or braces with written documentation from doctor
provided with military letter, excluding wrist braces.
If a cadet is caught lying about being out of uniform, he will be sent to the honor board. NO
