IBM servicesIBM services provide the capabilities and solutionsneeded to manage virtually every aspect of an opensystems environment and at any level chosen. Theycomplement the support already included withSystem p servers. IBM world-class services and sup-port allow you to better manage resources and focuson what matters most—your business.

IBM client financing provides an additional incentive. An array of attractive and flexible financing programseases the acquisition of new technology and helpsprotect from the risk of obsolescence. Financing maybe available to credit-qualified clients. Rates are basedon credit rating, financing terms and other options.Other restrictions may apply.

Benchmark notesThe benchmark information contained herein is currentas of the date of this document.

Values shown in the performance benchmarks sectionwere derived using particular, well-configured, development-level computer systems and used 32-bitapplications and external cache if external cache is

supported on the system. All performance benchmarkvalues and estimates are provided “AS IS” and no warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied byIBM. Buyers should consult other sources of informa-tion, including system benchmarks, to evaluate theperformance of a system they are considering. Actualsystem performance may vary and is dependent uponmany factors including system hardware configurationand software design and configuration. IBM recom-mends application-oriented testing for performancepredictions. Additional information about the perform-ance benchmarks, values and systems tested is avail-able from your IBM marketing representative orIBM Authorized Reseller or access the following on the Web:

SPEC – http://www.spec.orgTPC – http://www.tpc.org

Unless otherwise indicated, new or upgraded systemswere tested with AIX. All TPC-C benchmark results areTPC-C Version 5.

tpmC: TPC Benchmark C throughput measured as theaverage number of transactions processed per minuteduring a valid TPC-C configuration run of at least 20 minutes.

$/tpmC: TPC Benchmark C price-performance ratioreflects the estimated five year total cost of ownershipfor system hardware, software and maintenancedivided by the tpmC for the system.

rPerf (Relative Performance) is an estimate of commercial processing performance relative to otherIBM UNIX® systems. It is derived from an IBM analyti-cal model which uses characteristics from IBM internalworkloads, TPC and SPEC benchmarks. The rPerfmodel is not intended to represent any specific publicbenchmark results and should not be reasonably usedin that way. The model simulates some of the systemoperations such as CPU, cache and memory. However, the model does not simulate disk or networkI/O operations.

rPerf estimates are calculated based on systems withthe latest levels of AIX and other pertinent software at the time of system announcement. Actual perform-ance will vary based on application and configurationspecifics. The IBM eServer™ pSeries 640 is the base-line reference system and has a value of 1.0. AlthoughrPerf may be used to approximate relative IBM UNIXcommercial processing performance, actual systemperformance may vary and is dependent upon manyfactors including system hardware configuration and software design and configuration. Note that the rPerfmethodology used for the POWER6 processor-basedsystems is identical to that used for the POWER5processor-based systems. Variations in incrementalsystem performance may be observed in commercialworkloads due to changes in the underlying systemarchitecture.

All performance estimates are provided “AS IS” and nowarranties or guarantees are expressed or implied byIBM. Buyers should consult other sources of informa-tion, including system benchmarks and application siz-ing guides to evaluate the performance of a systemthey are considering buying. For additional informationabout rPerf, contact your local IBM office orIBM authorized reseller.
