Father Brendan thanks everyone for abiding by the new parking rules in effect for the parish, as well as for making an effort to drive slower and obey traffic rules. Please remember to be respectful of our neighbors and avoid parking or dropping off anyone in the neighborhoods surrounding the parish and, instead, to park only on our parish property.
Thank you!

Get Out and Vote
This next Tuesday our Country will once again exercise a vital key to our democracy by going to the polls and utilizing our individual right to vote at the local, state and federal levels. Voting is very special and should not be avoided – in fact, the only action that should precede going to the polls on Tuesday (or returning your mail-in paper ballot) is prayer – deep, focused prayer. Prayer for our country… prayer for all God’s people of the world… prayer that not our own will be done; prayer that through the marking of our ballots that God’s will be done.
Many times, I am asked by parishioners, friends, neighbors, and family who they should vote for. As clergy we cannot endorse candidates for public office; yet, clerical conferences/associations can and do increase awareness on ballot propositions and how the teachings of the Church apply to ballot propositions. Please visit https://www.cacatholic.org/take-action/general-election-propositions for information/positions on Propositions on the statewide ballot.
Additionally, please prayerfully review the information from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) at http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/faithful-citizenship/index.cfm. Regardless of your opinion of a person or issue, everyone is encouraged to ask questions and dive deeply into issues that impact our community.
So please – Get Out and Vote! Your local City Hall or County Registrar at https://www.ocvote.com/registration/ can provide information on the upcoming election, including polling places and status of registration -- in fact, you can now track your mail-in paper ballot processing online at https://www.ocvote.com/registration/verify-your-voter-registration/!
As we practice democracy, may God’s blessings be with us all,
Fr. Brendan Manson
Pastor
PS Please return your Stewardship Commitment Card to an Usher or the Business Office. Thank you!
Also, the Ushers have a small WeShare “On-line Giving Card” that parishioners can utilize to place in the
offertory basket during Mass. If you give electronically and would like to place one of the cards below in the weekly
collection, please ask an Usher or look for the cards on the small table in front of the baptismal font.

MONARCHS CELEBRATE FALL Learners Explore Plump Pumpkins, Spooky Skeletons, Produce, Petting Zoos & More
We may not witness the changing of leaves or cooling temperatures, but our youngest St. Edward learners have been learning about fall through various hands-on experiences and field trips. The Preschool celebrated its annual Pumpkin Patch where they transformed the field into a Harvest festival complete with a petting zoo, pony rides, haunted mazes, face painting, games and even a visit from everyone’s favorite witch!
In TYKEs, they visited Tanaka Farms where hand-picked fall produce including radishes, green onions, carrots, parsley and, of course, pumpkins! TYKEs also have been busy learning about the skeletal system using light boxes in their mini XRay lab, and building skeletons with paint and wooden blocks.
The final fall adventure was first grade’s trip to Centennial Farms. In addition to exploring the animals, including a 3,000 pound ox, they also got to hold baby chicks, pet goats and cows, and planted radishes to bring home for their own gardens.

Ushers Needed for Weekend Masses
Ushers provide hospitality, comfort, and safety at Sunday masses and other special liturgies. Before mass, ushers foster a sense of community by welcoming members of our parish and visitors. Following all weekend masses, ushers distribute the weekly bulletin and then assure that the church is ready for the next liturgy. Generally, the time commitment for an usher is 1-1.5 hours each week. Come celebrate mass with your family, serve our community and be an example of Christ’s love and witness to our community. Parish Ministries
Needed: Ministers to Take Communion to the Sick and
Homebound
We need registered parishioners who are willing to take Holy Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass due to age or illness. In bringing Holy Communion to the sick or aged, you minister to the whole person - body, mind and soul. The time commitment is approximately two hours per week, either during the week or on the weekend. Extraordinary Ministers to the Sick/Homebound are required by the Diocese of Orange to be fingerprinted and complete safe environment training. Applications are available in the Parish office or online at (stedward.com) under Ministries/Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick & Homebound.
Altar Guild Volunteers Needed! Altar Guild is in need of several volunteers to help keep our church’s appearance welcoming and at it’s best! Some members also perform sacristy tasks, such as preparing the holy vessels for mass. The time commitment is minimal – most volunteers work one day a month for 1-2 hours. Please contact Gabrielle Kirkman for more info or to sign up! Email, text or call: [email protected] or 949-683-1567.
Families of Nazareth Wednesdays @ 1:00– 2:00 p.m.
Join the Families of Nazareth at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Church Meeting Room. For information call Ann Marie Eckl (949)234-0476.
TIJUANA MINISTRY Every Thursday after the 8:15 a.m. Mass volunteers make approximately 300 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which are taken to Tijuana on Friday and distributed to the jail inmates, the homeless and needy. If you can make a monetary donation or donate peanut butter and jelly, please contact Suzanne Luke at (949) 496-7209 and [email protected] or drop it off at the Parish Office.

The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Orange provides a pre-need Planning Program for Catholic Families in Orange County. Family burial arrangements are among the most important and inevitable decisions a Catholic must make. Because of the many emotional and financial savings that result by planning these arrangements in advance of need, the Diocese of Orange urges all Catholic families to learn about their burial options.
The apostolic and administrative work of Catholic Cemeteries truly reflects the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
For information on advance planning and the choices you have, please contact: Mary Ellen Lohnes [email protected] (714) 393-1536
