Founded in 1964, Zero Hora is thecirculation leader in Rio Grande do Sul,according to IVC (CirculationVerification Institute). Its daily paidcirculation in April 2009 was 183.413. Ithas 23 separate sections andapproximately 60 columnists.

"Yes, I am gaucho“ is a cultural contest thatawards the best text sent to the newspaperabout the traditions of the state of RioGrande do Sul.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The newspaper's purpose with these specialproducts targeted at the young is to helpthem with daily school and family issues.Besides, Zero Hora offers pedagogicalmaterial that can be used by public andprivate Elementary and High Schools.
OBJECTIVES
People born in the state of Rio Grande do Sulare proud of their origins. To show that, aslogan is often repeated: "Yes, I am gaucho".
Zero Hora promoted a cultural contest withthat title to invite kids and teenagers (aged 8to 16) to describe, in text and pictures, whatthat healthy attachment to state traditions islike.
Every text had space on the newspaperwebsite, and the best articles were publishedon September Fridays. 131 texts arrived onthe newsroom, coming from 40 cities.
Through newspaper articles, kids andteenagers were invited and guided toparticipate in a cultural contest.
The winner of the contest was a ten-years-old girl (left). Her text was publishedand she got a color cover of the printpage. All participant’s names werepublished on the newspaper (right).
The president of Rio Grande do SulTraditions Institute chose thematerials sent by the kids and theteenagers.
