POSITION DESCRIPTION:Official Title: Extension Regional
Specialist, rank E-2 (equivalent to assistant profefull-time,
12-month appointment. This is a non-tenure track faculty position
that iseligible for promotion in rank according to established WSU
Extension policies. Theincumbent will become a member of Extensions
Community & Economic Developm
Program (CED) Unit.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:This faculty position will serve
as a catalyst in community and economic developmresearch and
capacity building within the primary industry sectors of Kitsap
Countparticular emphasis on food systems and manufacturing efforts
in the advanced-composites industry.
Responsibilities:
Work with community organizations, local government,
state/federal agentribes and local businesses to implement
community economic, naturalresources and small farms/food systems
projects.
Facilitate work among WSU and other resources resulting in
extramural fuproposals that create new ways to meet community
opportunities.
Work with other extension faculty in the Puget Sound to foster
agriculturanatural resources, community and youth programs.
Deliver consultation and educational workshops to public,
private non-proagencies and/or community improvement groups.
Maintain a working relationship with WSU faculty, County staff
and Tribal as well as a working knowledge of federal, tribal,
municipal, state, and reg
government resources. Supervise program assistants and/or WSU
student interns. Undertake scholarly activities that contribute to
the discipline, including
publishing results, novel approaches, and methods in
peer-reviewed outle

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. An earned Masters Degree.2.
Demonstrated success in project and extramural resource
development.3. Demonstrated competence in local economic
development and community development techniques, and
project/program delivery processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Demonstrated ability to communicate
effectively using oral, written, and listening skills.2.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, be self-motivated, and work with
limited supervision.3. Demonstrated ability and flexibility in
exercising both supervisory roles and team membership roles.4.
Capacity and willingness to engage diverse constituents in
education programs. Demonstrated cultural competen
skills.
5. Demonstrated understanding of local food systems and their
development.JOB EXPECTATIONS: All new Extension employees working
with youth must be screened. Employment as a 4-H youth educator
is
contingent upon a successful Washington State Patrol and
national background check.
Ability to travel year-round using own reliable transportation
(mileage reimbursed) is required. Evening and weekwork in
communities is required. While using a private vehicle for official
business, the successful candidate musobtain current automobile
liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW
46.30.020, and RCW46.09.090) and possess a valid drivers
license.
Extension faculty members are hired into the organization, not
into a specific geographical location. It is possiblfuture
circumstances may require relocation.
Understand and carry out the principles and specific
requirements of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans
Disabilities Act, the Affirmative Action Plan, and all pertinent
rules and regulations.
SALARY:Salary is commensurate with the candidate's academic and
professional qualifications and available funding, includinhistory
of program management and successful extramural fund development.

LOCATION:Kitsap County, with an estimated population of more
than 250,000, is nestled against Puget Sounds western shore
aencompasses nearly 300 miles of salt water coastline. The biggest
