30 Euston Square, home of the Royal College of General Practitioners, is to host the MPI Economics Insight in association with Cvent next week.

The event, which will be held on Monday 18th January, will focus on the economic outlook for 2016 providing agencies, corporate planners and suppliers with

the opportunity to benchmark their business.

The keynote speaker for the event is Jack Kennedy, director and senior economist for the leading global provider of financial information services, Markit.

Other speakers will include David Goodger (Oxford Economics), Fiona Pelham (MPI International Board Chair) and Rebecca Duncan (Virgin Atlantic).

“It’s an honour to be hosting the first must-attend events of 2016 as we all prepare for the financial year ahead. It is timely following a week in which European business

suffered losses following trading issues in the Chinese markets,” comments Stuart Gavin, Sales and Marketing Manager at 30 Euston Square. “The event itself will be held in

our State Rooms with exclusive use of the fifth floor providing delegates with the use of our Rooftop Terrace. It will be fantastic to welcome so many industry influencers and

of course it gives us a superb opportunity to showcase 30 Euston Square as an ideal venue in the heart of London perfectly located next to major transport hubs.”

30 Euston Square’s two penthouse State Rooms with Rooftop Terrace offer a unique setting for corporate events, award ceremonies, formal dinners, celebrations and

conferences for up to 216 guests or standing receptions for 230.

The half-day event will begin with a welcome lunch before speaker and panel sessions and a tech-focused networking break providing guests an opportunity to test out the

latest emerging technologies from the meetings and events sector. The day will end with a final summary and networking drinks.

30 Euston Square is a conference, meetings and events venue based in the heart of London.

Home News Venues & Events 30 Euston Square to kick off 2016 with a devilish evening

Category: Venues & Events Created on Monday, 18 January 2016 12:30

30 Euston Square, home of the Royal College of General Practitioners, is kicking off 2016 with a devilish detox at an Angels vs Devils event on Thursday 21st

January.

The event is part of a campaign in many of Searcys’ restaurants and champagne bars across London and promises to be a night of healthy angelic food, drink

and naughty alcohol-loaded cocktails.

The Angels vs Devils event will bring together clients of 30 Euston Square and feed them healthy food and vitamin fuelled cocktails. 30 Euston Square and Searcys are

looking to uncover whether there are more Angels or Devils in the industry by asking them to tweet #SearcysAngel or #SearcysDevil during the event. A photo booth, with a

Twitter feature built in, will also allow guests to upload their pictures using the hashtags wearing either their horns or halos on the night.

“What better way to start 2016 than with a devilish detox with great food and naughty cocktails?” said Stuart Gavin, Sales and Marketing Manager at 30 Euston Square. “Our

annual client event is not be missed and, with the Angels v. Devils theme, it’s set to be the best yet. We’re all intrigued to see just how many angels and devils there are

amongst our clients – it promises to be a memorable night!”

A varied and healthy menu will be available throughout the evening with a Naughty and Nice station, Super Salad Wrap Bar station and canapés as well as a goodie bag

including face masks, healthy teas and not so healthy chocolates. The cocktails on offer throughout the night will be a Green Goddess, Ginger Zinger and Beet It.

“Angels v. Devils really serves to test the resolutions of those choosing from the menu and 30 Euston Square’s event will be perfect to showcase wonderful catering and

delicious cocktails,” comments Yvette Chatwin, General Manager at 30 Euston Square. “The Angels v. Demons concept is something that has been rolled out across many of

Searcys’ venues across London. The social campaign is already underway with venues tweeting since the New Year. It promises to be a popular theme as we begin 2016

with a bang.”

More than 80 buyers including Gorkana, Grant Thornton and BUPA enjoyed a devilish evening of good food and cocktails at 30 Euston Square,

home of the Royal College of General Practitioners, on Thursday night. The client evening was based around the Angels vs Devils theme rolled out across

many of Searcys’ London-based restaurants and champagne bars during January.

“It was an evening to remember and the perfect way to start 2016 with our clients,” comments Stuart Gavin, Sales and Marketing Manager at 30 Euston Square. “We are

always looking for new ways to demonstrate the quality of our staff, venue and catering but tonight was also about bringing professionals together to kick off what we hope to

be a memorable year for 30 Euston Square.”

Victoria Morrison, Gorkana, Head of Events said: “30 Euston Square is the ideal venue for our media briefings, which are attended by a host of national media. The light and

open spaces lend themselves to networking and provide energy for our morning events. The knowledge that everything is in place and ready to go in the auditorium,

particularly the AV, is great for us. However, the venue’s biggest selling point is the staff who constantly go above and beyond the call of duty to make every event not just a

success but a pleasure to run. Tonight's event has been great fun, the theming was really relevant and the use of the selfie booth added a unique twist.”

Cocktails on the night included Green Goddess, Ginger Zinger and Beet It, alongside popular canapés such as deep fried jalapeño macaroni, chicken & truffle cheese sliders

and 12 hour cooked confit pork belly with a black pudding crumble caramelised apple puree. Several catering stations were present on the night including a Super Salad

wrap bar and Naughty and Nice station.

Nirusha Vigi, Events Manager, UCL & The Institute for Fiscal Studies, comments: “We regularly use 30 Euston Square for a variety of events including academic

conferences, research showcases and celebrations. Whilst the venue is stunning and the catering both creative and a delight to eat, it is the staff that place 30 Euston

Square head and shoulders above its competitors. Their attention to detail and thoughtfulness mean everything is taken care of, our needs preempted and events delivered

seamlessly.”

Terry Benson, PA to the Chief Executive, HS1 comments: “We use 30 Euston Square regularly, particularly for private dinning and small meetings due to its superb location,

attention to detail and the consistently high quality catering. Tonight’s event demonstrated another side to the venue’s offering with its creative and atmospheric theme,

unusual cocktails and creative food options.”

30 Euston Square had been asking guests to tweet throughout the evening either #SearcysAngel or #SearcysDevil depending on their preference and there was even a

photo booth built to directly upload their photos using the hashtags.

The MPI Insights Economic Outlook took

place at 30 Euston Square

Event professionals questioned why airline prices hadn't fallen in linewith record lows in oil prices, at an industry forum this week.

Bewildered event organisers, alongside suppliers, were told at theMeeting Professionals International (MPI) Insights Economic Outlookthat air travel should have already fallen in price, with a suggestionairlines were 'hiding' behind hedged oil prices.

Oxford Economics' David Goodger said: "I think a lot of people werehoping there would be (a price decrease) last year ) a lot of airlinesmay hide behind their hedging and say 'we just want to keep (costs)stable'.

"It has been somewhat surprising we haven't seen more falls, but thereis no obligations for airlines to cut rates in line with oil prices. But it'ssurprising the public hasn't been putting pressure on them to cut rates."

Goodger was presenting key economic trends for the business travelindustry at the forum on Monday, held at 30 Euston Square.

He said oil prices were tipped to stay low for 2016, before returning toUS$75 (£52) a barrel by 2020.

Goodger said economic trends pointed towards subdued gains for theevents industry in 2016 and beyond.

"Travel budgets increased (in 2015) but only moderately, so there's nostellar increase for the next year or so," he said.

"Eurozone growth is stable, but for Eurozone, stable is good. It's not abad picture in terms of travel demands as a whole. We're still seeinggrowth from all markets."

China's recession has been much worse than the country claims, butthe good news is that it is "as bad as it gets", Goodger said. "Thecollapse has pretty much happened to the extent it will happen," headded.

Goodger said the UK domestic market will also be key, with peoplewanting to play it safe in amid heightened terror fears.

Virgin Atlantic's Partnership Director Rebecca Duncan presented onbusiness travel trends, and said the average business trip wasexpected to shrink. Duncan said the average group size would go from41 to 36 in 2016, with a slight drop in average room nights from 3.2 to3.

Speaking of travel budgets, Duncan said: "Budgets aren't changing butpeople are looking at what they can add in to make it morememorable."

This included previous requests such as a singing Elvis at Gatwickairport or branding in-flight items. "You need to buy your memorableexperience much earlier. It's much more effective than when yourdelegates arrive tired,72 hours later, to their destination," she added.

The United States was the top destination for 2015, with New Yorkand Las Vegas the most popular cities. It has led to a growth in airlinecapacity and hotel openings, Duncan added, with 31 hotels opening inNew York last year.
