Tools in Play – getting started

We will continue studies of drafting plane development

Sketch originates on yz plane Make a profile – useful starting point Pad it as required

Page 3: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Profiling and Circle Constrained to centers on origin (140 mm tall)

Page 4: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Create 1st reference Plane – offset from yz

Page 5: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Isometric – notice the grid away from the part – Project Circle to plane and offset (transformation)

Page 6: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Be sure to trim upper halves of circles & line inside small circle!

Page 7: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Center piece was isolated and sketches were resized!

Page 8: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Profile on 2nd Auxiliary plane – “shaft” it 360 around V-Axis

Note: Arc has Zero offset from V-Axis

Our 3rd Aux. Plane – and in Iso-view to aid in sketching:

Page 10: 3-D Geometries & Adding Sketch Planes R. Lindeke IE 1225

Add 2 Points – centered on Pad 3 End – after a line is drawn between we make a Plane (rotated about the line 30) relative to the end of the PAD!

All this work to get another Aux. Plane – Yes (again the power of 3-D design!)

When Intersecting 3D Elements – make sure that you select PAD3 from the Tree – not the Face in the sketcher!!!

Completed --

Lots of chances to “go Wrong” 4 Auxiliary Planes are needed – offset and

‘at an angle’ Points and Lines too – in the Modeling

environment Work Carefully – If you can’t Pad at First –

Cancel and return to sketcher to repair!
