INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON OCCUPATIONAL HEALTHAND SAFETY: FROM POLICIES TO PRACTICE

Riga, 6-7 December, 2012

Dear colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to take part in the International conference on OccupationalHealth and Safety: Form policies to practice that will take place in Riga on 6-7 December,2012.

This conference will provide excellent opportunity to learn more both on latest developmentsand historical changes in the systems of Occupational health and safety in the countriesaround the Baltic Sea as well as in other countries both in the EU and also from the formerU.S.S.R. republics.

Plenary session of the conference will provide more global view of processes and changes in

policies and practice while parallel session will concentrate on more practical issues anddevelopments in areas like occupational medicine, ergonomics and work organisation, stressand other workplace risks.

As time of the conference is approaching fast we have prepared some practical informationregarding the conference venue, visa requirements and hotel arrangements.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held at Radisson BLU Daugava Hotel that is located across the river

Daugava and has fantastic view over the river to Old Town of Riga that is one of the UNESCOWorld Heritage Sites, recognized for its Art Nouveau and the 19th century woodenarchitecture. The Radisson BLU Daugava Hotel is well known as venue for manyinternational events and has all the necessary facilities including free access to Wi-Fi.

Getting around

Getting from the Airport to conference hotels. There are several alternatives:

The best way to get to hotel is by taxi (Air Baltic taxis charge standard rate of 8 LVL(approx 11 EURO if you by coupon at the airport).

Airbaltic Express Shuttle (mini bus) that charges 3 LVL (approx 5 Euro).o For getting to Hotel Konventa Seta you need to get off in stop Hotel Riga (Old

Town) and then walk to Hotel Konventa Seta at Kaleju Street 9/11 (seemap);o For getting to Radisson BLU Daugava Hotel the Express shuttle stops

directly at hotel.

City bus No. 22 (leaves from the bus stop approximately 100 metres from the terminal go straight forward passing the car parking and across the street). It costs 0.7 LVL ifyou by ticket from the driver. You need to get off in stop called 13.janvra iela and walkto the hotel (seemap).

Getting from Hotel Konventa Seta to Radisson BLU Daugava Hotel: One way to get to the Radisson BLU Daugava is by taxi it should cost around 5 LVL

(approx 89 EUROS). Ask the reception for taxi there are several reliable companies. Tram: No. 2,4,5,10 leaves from stop called Grcinieku iela the stop is located near

river Daugava and Stone Bridge (Akmens tilts). It costs 0.7 LVL if you by ticket fromthe driver (how to get there see map). You need to ride only one stop until Valguma

iela and then walk (seemap); But the healthiest and easiest way to get there is on foot. It will take only

approximately 15 minutes (seemap).

Coffee breaks and lunches

Coffee breaks and lunches will be organized according to the programme right next to meetingroom or in the restaurant of Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel free of charge to registeredparticipants.
