D2-K: Concept and power of

“dhana”

Dhana• n. the prize of a contest or the contest itself (lit. a running match, race, or

treasure, gift • capital par se

– which is different from “dhana vṛddhi” meaning increase of wealth through interest or other means and its opposite “dhana kṣaya” meaning wealth decline or dhana vyaya meaning wealth losses or even dhana hāni which includes every conceivable loss -

– abandonment, relinquishment – decrease , diminution – deprivation of – damage, loss, failure (also in a lawsuit), ruin – insufficiency, deficit, a minus – cessation, disappearance, non-existence.

• (in arithmetic) the affirmative quantity or plus as opposed to ऋण (ṛṇa) meaning debt, minus ,

• N. of the 2nd House in Jyotiṣa … • हिर (hari) is the deity of the second house which sustains and when this

sustenance ends, it stops feeding and end comes …hence māraka.

Aho-Rātra• Bha-Chakra divided along

Magha (throne) axis and considers Night-Strong and Day-Strong signs for horā mapping; D2-K is based on Natural Order of world

• All weekday planets (sapta-graha) lord over two signs except Sun and Moon; Sun and Moon as treated as one unit -Luminaries

• If planet is in Sun horā it occupies a sign which is co-owned by its dispositor and which is day strong

• If planet is in Moon horā, it occupies a sign which is co-owned by its dispositor and is night strong

Sun represents day-strong signs, i.e. Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces. Moon represents night-strong signs, i.e. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Sagittarius and Capricorn. Rest are night strong or Moon Horā.

Examples• Dispositors are called anitya kāraka.• Example1: Jupiter is at 25°16’ in Taurus.

Taurus is an even sign lorded by Venus. Venus is anitya kāraka for Jupiter. The given longitude is in the second half (15° to 30°) of Taurus. Jupiter is in Sun's horā and must be placed in a sign of Venus which is day-strong. Between Taurus and Libra, the latter us the day strong sign of Venus. Jupiter is placed in Libra in Kāśināth horā D2-K chart.

• Example2: Sun is at 21°04’ Cancer. Cancer is an even sign lorded by the Moon (luminary). Moon becomes anitya kāraka for Sun. In the D2-K chart Sun must be placed either in Leo or Cancer which is owned by a luminary. The second horā of Cancer is ruled by the Sun indicating day strong sign. Between Cancer and Leo, the latter is day strong. Therefore Sun is placed in Leo in the Kāśināth horā chart.

Kāryeśa and Vāreśa • कायश (kāryeśa) for Horā (D2) is the lord of the

second bhāva of the rāśi chart• Examine the strength of the kāryeśa in the D2-K

chart and the yoga it is involved in.• If the second house is also co-lorded by a node,

then for the purpose of D2-K chart, prefer one of the sapta-vāra graha (weekday planets) only as kāryeśa – Because the day/night strong signs are defined only

based on the sapta-vāra graha– Because Kāśināth Horā is based only on the

ownership of signs by sapta-vāra graha• Vāreśa (weekday lord) is critical for the power of

Agni, and Agni is the real giver of wealth and power in Bhū loka

Kāraka • Jupiter, naisargika kāraka for dhana (wealth).

It shows steady flow and regular gains like income from known sources

• Mercury rules the direction of Kubera, the god of wealth i.e. northern direction. It shows sudden gains like lottery, share market or gambling.

• Dispositor of the 2nd Lord of Rāśi chart is the anitya kāraka for Dhana bhāva

• Horā Lagna is the controller of wealth and its flow. Normally HL or its 7th house determines wealth and what one values

Daśā Etc.• D2-K Nārāyaṇa daśā starts from the sign

occupied by the kāryeśa or the opposite sign whichever is stronger

• Only Vimśottari daśā (Moon) shall apply for the D2-K Chart. Special Udu Daśā will only show the enterprise and not what the world is giving to the native

• Jupiter rules Vimśottari daśā• Study 2nd bhāva of D2-K chart very carefully

for all good and bad yoga• Ātmakāraka (See ‘AK’ mentioned in chart)

must be strong and related to wealth, but Dārākāraka is the real wealth (Śrī)

Daśā will be taught in detail in future
