FROM THE OWNERS

“When we first saw this property it was a large slab of recently bulldozed raw earth with magnificent views of the valley in three directions. The privacy it provided made it a natural for outdoor living. We wanted an architect who could design such a space and chose Michael Helm from Tortola, BVI. Michael was used to designing such places and after visiting the site on several occasions he came up with designs for our home. We have a home where almost every room has patio and outdoor access. The main living areas enter into two large patios. One has old overhead beams and is covered with wisteria. It overlooks our outback gardens which have been planted with roses, peony and other perennials and a large lawn. In the evenings the setting is especially wonderful. The other patio we call the fountain patio. It has the sun until early afternoon. We have built in garden beds for some roses, lavender and other plants. We love the sound of the fountain while sitting there. The view of the valley is unsurpassed and the feeders attract many varieties of birds. We have no sound of traffic so there is minimal noise and therefore very relaxing.

We can hike and bike just going out our front door. This area is great for exercising and keeping fit.

Driving the mile drive to our gate we have seen lots of deer, wild turkeys, fox, a bob cat and a bear once or twice. It is always a thrill to see and enjoy these beautiful animals in their natural environment. Even though we love these animals, we built a tall enough fence to keep them from visiting us at our house!

In the winter we have plenty of firewood from the natural death of the trees and therefore we have had many wonderful fires in our fireplace.

Even though we feel as though we are living in a secluded area, we are only five miles from Medford shopping and lots of restaurants. We have always worked in East Medford and after the drive home every day we feel we have landed on a private island.

We love living here but realize that it is time for us to ‘cut back’ on space and will be spending our time in our condo in Ketchum, Idaho.”
