Family Matters! I am excited about our gospel meeting coming up at the end of this month. Beginning on Sunday, April 30, and going through Wednesday night, May 3, the Henderson church will be hosting a special series of meetings that will help us think in positive ways about the family as God would have it. John Dale will begin our meeting by hosting four sessions on Sunday, April 30. His topics will be as follows:

• Class: God’s Design for Relationships - (Gen. 1:26-28) Learning to appreciate God-designed differences between His creation of male and female: unique traits, thought patterns, “wiring” of men and of women

• Morning Sermon: Family Foundations - (Eph. 5:21-6:4) Learning to respect God and His word on all subjects, including and especially the home and family; human nature, unconditional love, humility, self-esteem, sacrifice

• Devotional: Gratitude Works Wonders - (Luke 17:11-19) Real gratitude must be felt, and then expressed. When ten lepers were cleansed, only one said, “thank you.” We must learn to express our gratitude while it can be heard.

• Evening Sermon: Confronting Temptations - (1 Cor. 10:7-13) Honestly tackling the temptations and addictions (parasites) that can damage, even destroy, relationships; learning to say, “I have sinned,” rather than ‘Mistakes were made.” This will give us a great start for the meeting. On Monday night, Keith Parker will speak on How to Make People Feel Comfortable in God's Family. On Tuesday night, David Shannon will speak on The Church -- God's Family. On Wednesday night, Dan Winkler will speak on When Families Struggle. We will have a great opportunity to advertise this meeting to our entire community in a number of ways. The most impressive way is for all of us to personally invite people to come be a part of this great four days. Let's work together to glorify God.

As I am writing this, I am gearing up along with 135 others for the Lads 2 Leaders convention in Nashville. This program not only takes a lot of time and energy from the young people involved but also from a great many adults:

• Parents encouraging their children. • Coaches volunteering their time. • Coordinators dealing with issues behind the scenes (of which most of us are unaware). • Elders providing financial support and encouragement. • Church members purchasing food items to help keep our costs down.

To every person who has helped in any way, I thank you very much. Our aim is to do our best to represent our church in a positive way. Ultimately, our aim is to help our young people be confident in their development of leadership skills within the Lord’s church. Family Matters I hope you are planning to attend our upcoming Family Matters lesson series. We have four (4) outstanding speakers coming our way and this should be a very positive and encouraging series of lessons. Here are a few things I would encourage you to do:

• Pray for the success of this lesson series • Tell your friends and family about it • Take some flyers from the Welcome Center desk and give them to your coworkers • Help us on Saturday, April 29th, as we canvass the City of Henderson (more information to come

on this) • Make a commitment to attend the series yourself

The dates for this lesson series are April 30 – May 3. Teens and all adult classes will meet in the auditorium and all other classes will meet as usual. We will have a Picnic in the Park at 12 Noon at Gene Record Park. This is a “Bring Your Own Bag” picnic. We will have a devotional at the park. Sunday worship services will be at 10AM and 5PM. Start time on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be 7PM. Mark your calendars now. You will be blessed by attending this lesson series.

Quick Announcements

- Spring Retreat- Spring Retreat is going to be awesome! We’ll be looking at the idea of being Tangled up together and unified in Christ…both in the good and the bad. Retreats are one of our highlights of the year. It’s a time to get away and a time to refocus our spiritual lives. Hope that you’re planning on attending.

- Lads to Leaders- I’m so proud of all of you who are going to Lads to Leaders this weekend. I could not care less about whether or not you win or place. I hope you’ve all learned something. I hope your talents have improved. I hope that you will use your talents in the service of the kingdom. That’s what you need to take away. You all should be proud of your work.

- Camps- Maywood, MSYC, and Horizons applications are now available. The Henderson Youth Group will be going to the following camps: the first week at Maywood, June 4-10; Horizons, July 2-7; and the 8th week of MSYC, July 23-28. If you’re planning on going to Horizons, you need to go ahead and get your application done because that one is filling up very, very quickly! Also, don’t forget the congregation will pay ½ the cost for a week of camp at either Maywood, Midsouth, or Horizons. If you need the camp form, let us know and we’ll be sure to get you a copy.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12
