• „Based on current knowledge and subject to a varity of prerequisites and conditions, the signing OEMs strongly anticipate that from 2015 onwards a quite significant number of fuel cell vehicles could be commercialised. This number is aimed at a few hundred thousand units over life cycle on a worldwide basis.“

EC regulations on type approval of H2 vehicles

REGULATION (EC) No 79/2009 on Type-approval of hydrogen-powered motor vehicles

REGULATION (EU) No 406/2010 implementing Regulation (EC) No 79/2009

According to the Split Level Approach, it comprises two parts:

The “political” part (outlining the necessity of the proposal, general description, etc) adoption by the European Parliament and the Council.

The “technical” part (containing the application of the pertinent standards to containers and other specific components) discussed at Commission level.
