The Unit

36 Young people

20 boys, 16 girls

13 aged 12/1311 aged 1412 aged 15/16

There will be 4 Patrols with PLs and APLs in each

Need to build into a strong team over next 16 months

Hopefully all born between 25 July 1993 and 27 July 1997 !

You will be part of Scouting history

There have been Jamborees every 4 years since 1929 except during WWII and 1979

There have been 21 Jamborees so far!

The 22nd will be the best one yet

22nd World Scout Jamboree

30,000 Participants aged 14-18 from nearly every Country in the World

3500 UK Participants

Plus Unit Leaders

International Service Team (IST)

The Trip

Not just a Jamboree!

Pre Jamboree Event held in Copenhagen – 2/3 nights (c25th July 2011)

22nd World Scout Jamboree (27th July – 7th August)

Home Hospitality (HoHo) held in other Countries, possibly one of the Baltic States – 2/3 nights

The Site

The site is near Kristianstad in southern SwedenA small town will be created With shops, banks, cafes, etcSplit into sub camps and common areas‘Camp in Camp’ experience

‘Simply Scouting’

Every Jamboree has a theme.

Sweden have chosen ‘Simply Scouting’ which has 3 components

Meetings. To encourage meetings between different cultures, religions, Countries, etc

Nature. Using the natural environment as a learning tool

Solidarity. Helping the young people to see that we share a common responsibility for our World

Equipment and Food

We will be given…

Uniform, necker, badges, trousersCoatLarge bag and day sackTents, cooking equipmentAnything else we decide to fundraise for!

We will cook as a unitWe will have meatballs every dayWe will buy food at on site supermarketsWe have to clean up too!We will invite other Countries for dinner and will get invited back (hopefully)

The cost for the event is £2100 per personIncludes

We’re in it together. We have to raise £84000 in 16 monthsPaid in instalments (Feb, July, Oct, Dec, March)
