conTempoPhilips conTempo floodlight has a registered design that blends well with contemporary outdoor environments. It has a rugged pressure die-casted aluminum housing with corrosion resistant powder coating. Philips conTempo also features an integrated energy saving copper and aluminium ballast, electronic semi-parallel ignitor and capacitor. The unit has passed rigoroustests for dust and water ingress protection.

Floodlighting

Lighting should perfectly illuminate the sports players, it should never disturb them or be uncomfortable for the live spectators. Many years of experience have enabled Philips engineers to perfect an unequalled competence for application development and optimal sports lighting design, from top-end through recreational sports facilities.

Whether it’s a production centre, container terminal, or industrial site there are continuous activities throughout the night. The efficiency of these locations is greatly extended by lighting which contributes to safety and security of people working on the site. The efficiency of the system due to long burning hours and the limitation of spill light is key for surrounding environment, which might be residential is is key for area lighting.

Today, halogen-based and HID-based flood lights are available in various wattages for sports and area applications.

Application example: at 200 lux

1. Determine the size of the billboard, as depicted above: Height = H Width = W

2. Determine the data from the matrices in the following steps: - Refer to the cell in the 200 lux matrix, corresponding to the

matching height (H) & width (W) - Identify the type of luminaire from the first letter: A, B or C - Obtain the required quantity of luminaires to achieve 200 lux

(number suffix after A,B or C) - Obtain the distance of the luminaires from the billboard

(under column ‘D’)

For example, if your search results in B7 from the matrix, this means you require: 7 sets of B type of luminaires, at a distance of 2.6 meters from the billboard

3. Ideally: a. The distance between individual luminaires should be less than 3.5m b. The distance between the vertical edge of the billboard &

first or last luminaire should be less than half the distance between two individual luminaires, as depicted above.

Note• A maintenance index of 0.8 had been included in the given data • I M (in column D) refers to the distance – i.e. the mounted

luminaire is 1 meter away from the lower edge of the billboard
