Young Designers Lab• What is it?• A research initiative undertaken by Brian and Masako at
EFCG, to take a snapshot of the young designer’s professional circumstances, in the NYC area. We just bothered a lot of friends and friends of friends.

EFCG, to take a snapshot of the young designer’s professional circumstances, in the NYC area. We just bothered a lot of friends and friends of friends.
• Why study how young designers enter the profession?• Because we are the future! And the circumstances after
2008 have largely shifted the realm of possibilities for traditional firms as well as young entrepreneurs.

• 9:00am – 10:00 am: Presentations, Q&A• Christopher Counts (MLA, GSD)• Haiko Cornelissen (MArch, TU Delft + MIT/GSD)• Corey Yurkovich (MDes Technology, GSD)
• 10:10 – 11:00: Stakeholder Map Exercise• Groups of 20 students per speaker• Grab a sheet of brown paper and
sketch/diagram/demonstrate 1) collaborative networks that each firm and owner experiences in their projects
• 2) decision making map: the ‘bosses’ that each firm and owner interfaces in their projects
• 3) Assign a presenter from the group to explain diagram
• 11:00-11:30: Presentations
