Tournament Information/Guidelines Pre-Tournament Practice Teams will be allowed to practice as time/space allows. Please contact tournament managers to arrange practice times. Official Soccer Ball Baden Perfection Thermo ST7; provided by tournament management. Number of Participants/Coaches/Support Personnel At all play-in and state tournament games, varsity teams are limited to twenty-two students in uniform at the start of the contest. Violation of this rule will result in the school being assessed a maximum fine for dressing more than the approved number of players at a state play-in or tournament game with forfeiture of the game if excess numbers play. All classifications will be allowed three coaches and three support personnel to be admitted without an IHSAA card or tournament pass. Any coaches or support personnel exceeding that number must have either an IHSAA card or purchase a tournament pass. Locker / Dressing Rooms Locker rooms are unavailable and will not be provided. Teams need to dress at home or in their hotel rooms. Training Room / Towels Medical personnel (i.e. a trainer and staff) will be available for special assistance or in case of an emergency. However, schools should plan to furnish their own tape and supplies. Towels will not be provided at the tournament. Officials Officials will be provided by the IHSAA. There shall be a single referee and two assistant referees who will be assisted by at least two ball holders (when possible), located at each end of the field. Semifinal and championship games will have a 4th official when possible. National Anthem The National Anthem will be played at the start of each game, when possible. Governance National Federation rules will be used for all IHSAA soccer games.

4

Page 6: 21 Soc Manual - idhsaa.org

Home Team / Team Benches / Equipment The highest seeded team shall be the “home” team. The home team will wear dark jerseys and will be assigned to the right side of the scorer’s table (as you face it). Both teams and coaches areas are on the same side of the field. Teams must bring two sets of jerseys, socks and their own practice balls. Tie Matches District, state or play-in matches that are tied at the end of 80 minutes of play will be resolved as follows: Two (2) sudden victory (10) ten-minute overtimes will be played. If the match is still tied after the (2) 10-minute overtime periods, kicks will be taken from the penalty mark with five (5) members from each team alternating kicks. After all five (5) members from each team have kicked, the team with the most goals will be declared the winner. If the match is still tied, the coach will select five (5) new players (different players than the first five (5) who kicked), to take alternating kicks in a sudden victory situation; if one team scores and the other team does not score, the match is ended without more kicks being taken. Protests The IHSAA Board of Directors does not recognize protests of sports officials’ decisions. Correction of errors can only be handled in accordance with the National Federation rules. Warm-up Between Matches Teams will have approximately twenty minutes of warm-up between matches. Because of facility constraints, the tournament time schedule will be followed as closely as possible. If the matches run late, the minimum warm-up time will be ten minutes. All-Tournament Teams The IHSAA is philosophically opposed to all-tournament team selections. It is the right of the media to conduct polls and establish rankings, however the IHSAA will not participate in such selections nor announce them at the tournament. Awards Trophies will be awarded to first, second, third place, and consolation teams. Medals will be awarded to members of the Champion and Runner-up teams. Presentation of awards will be as follows: Consolation and third place trophies will be awarded at the conclusion of those games. Second place and championship trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the championship game. State Tournament Sportsmanship awards and Academic State Champions will be given to one team in each classification. Host Hotels / Hotel Conduct We encourage all schools to take advantage of their special rates. Conduct: Each year a few athletes create a bad image for the rest by their uncontrolled behavior in hotels. Coaches should check rooms closely upon arrival and at departure and ensure their athletes are properly supervised. Litter / Lost and Found Participants are responsible for picking up litter from the team and coaching area. Schools should assist in keeping facilities clean by supervising spectator sections. A lost and found site will be designated by the tournament manager. Programs The composition and printing of tournament programs is the responsibility of the IHSAA. Tournament programs will be available for purchase either online or at the venue(s). Each team will receive one complimentary souvenir program. T-Shirts / Souvenir Merchandise State tournament t-shirts and other souvenir merchandise will be sold at the tournament by McU Sports.
