OverviewAt Immanuel Lutheran College, we are proud to offer a wide range of scholarships designed to support talented students who have the potential to benefit from the College’s outstanding academic and co-curricular programs.

We are committed to nurturing our students by awarding scholarships across a broad range of abilities. Successful candidates are awarded a scholarship based on the following criteria:

• Academic performance (Edutest Scholarship Test and previous academic results)

• Achievement and involvement in areas of Sport, Music and the Arts.

• Leadership

• Community service

Scholarships awarded to successful students will provide remission of tuition fees (excludes levies and other costs, e.g., uniforms) up to 50%.

Terms and Conditions

1. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Principal and are subject to a quota which is determined by the College Council.

2. Scholarships are not available to full overseas fee-paying students.

3. Candidates, if shortlisted, may be invited to have an interview with the Principal and all offers will be made in writing. Any scholarship offer not accepted by the due date will lapse.

4. Scholarships are awarded on the proviso that the student continues to meet the specific conditions set out in their written offer, participates to the best of their ability in College activities and adheres to the College’s Code of Conduct.

5. Scholarship students’ results/commitment to College events (specific to their scholarship offer) will be monitored each semester to ensure recipients are meeting their obligations.

6. Scholarships are offered for the duration of the recipient’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Recipients awarded a scholarship from Years 6, 7 and 8 will be required to attend a review interview with the Principal/or elected delegate prior to entering Year 10.

7. Should a scholarship recipient fail to meet their scholarship obligations, counselling, followed by a letter of warning shall be issued for corrective action to be taken by the student. The student shall then have the following semester to meet their initial scholarship requirements. In the event of the student returning a second unsatisfactory semester review, the scholarship may be reduced or cancelled as determined by the Principal.

8. Successful candidates who are not current Immanuel students will not be required to pay the application or confirmation of enrolment fee as part of their scholarship package.

9. The scholarship does not cover costs such as the resources levy, uniform, books or music tuition fees.

10. All candidates, both successful and unsuccessful, will receive written notification in due course.

11. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria for a scholarship may in some instances be considered for a Principal’s Bursary, which is awarded at the Principal’s discretion.

12. Immanuel Lutheran College will not enter into a dispute regarding the awarding of scholarships.

1. Academic ScholarshipAcademic scholarships are based on achievement in an examination provided by Edutest and a successful interview with the Principal. Immanuel invites existing students and those who wish to enter Immanuel Lutheran College to sit the scholarship test.

Students entering Years 6 to 11 in 2022 are eligible to apply.

EligibilityAcademic Scholarships are offered on merit, based on Edutest results. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and application to studies.

To Apply1. Applications can only be made online, and candidates must log on to the Immanuel website www.immanuel.qld.edu.au/

enrolments/scholarships and follow the prompts to register their details and submit payment. Testing is conducted by Edutest, an independent organisation engaged by the College.

2. When you have registered the candidate with Edutest, you are then required to complete an Academic Scholarship Cover Sheet (available on the College website) and attach copies of the candidate’s last two academic reports, NAPLAN and any other relevant information.

Applications close on Friday, 14 May 2021

Applications registered after 14 May 2021 will attract a late fee of $250.00, and the final closing date is Monday 17 May 2021.

TenureScholarships are offered for the duration of the recipient’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are reviewed each semester and are subject to continued excellence in academic performance and abiding by College policies. Scholarship recipients are required to meet a grade point average each semester (equivalent to an Academic Gold or Academic Blue Award) and be actively involved in the College’s co-curricular program.

CostThe registration fee is $100.00, and this is paid directly to Edutest. There is no refund for candidates who fail to sit the test.

Testing DateSaturday, 22 May 2021.

TimeApproximately – 9.00 am to 12.00 pm Candidates need to arrive by 8.45 am

Notification of ResultsThe College does not provide candidates with actual scores or order of merit.

Interviews will be arranged once the Edutest test results are published.

2. Music ScholarshipImmanuel Lutheran College offers an excellent music program which has a high profile within the College and the wider community. Immanuel’s music program includes various bands, orchestras, ensembles and choirs which perform at regular concerts and community events. Candidates applying for a Music Scholarship must be prepared to maintain their focus on the development of music for the duration of their scholarship and participate fully in the College’s music program.

Students entering Years 7 to 11 in 2022 are eligible to apply.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a successful audition and interview with a selection panel.

EligibilityTo apply for a Music Scholarship, the applicant must have attained at least a minimum Level/Grade 3 AMEB/Trinity or equivalent on their chosen instrument. Candidates must also demonstrate sound academic achievement.

To apply candidates must:

1. Complete an online Music Scholarship application available on the College website.2. Submit a video of the candidate performing two contrasting pieces (max 2 minutes each). The video footage can be provided

as a link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or on a USB, which can be posted or dropped off at the College. There will be a provision in the application form to insert the link.

The registration fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.

Applications close on Friday, 5 March 2021

Audition Process1. Candidates will be shortlisted to attend an audition/interview with the Head of Arts and Instrumental Music Coordinator. 2. Candidates should be prepared to play/sing three contrasting performance pieces. Please note that candidate can perform the

same pieces used in their video submission.3. Candidates may be asked to perform scales and/or arpeggios from their latest completed examination level. For example,

if the candidate has just completed “Grade 3 – Trinity Guildhall”, the panellists may ask to hear any scale/arpeggio listed as a requirement for that particular level of examination in the current syllabus. Scales and arpeggios must be performed by memory and must be performed ascending and descending.

4. Where a candidate has indicated that they play more than one instrument, he/she will be required to demonstrate their ability on each of the instruments.

5. The audition process will include some aural testing and sight-reading, as well as theoretical content, to gauge the applicant’s general knowledge of music.

6. Piano accompaniment at the audition, if required, will need to be provided by the candidate.

TenureScholarships are offered for the duration of the student’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are reviewed each semester, and recipients are expected to maintain active participation and membership of applicable ensembles/bands/choirs and the College’s music program. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.

3. Arts ScholarshipImmanuel Lutheran College offers a diverse range of studies in the areas of Visual Art, Drama, Dance and Film, Television and New Media. The College seeks candidates who can think creatively; demonstrate a willingness to succeed in an Arts pathway and be able to provide evidence/portfolio in acknowledgement of their achievements and skills.

Students entering Years 7 to 11 in 2022 are eligible to apply.

3.1 Visual ArtsScholarships will be awarded on the basis of a successful interview with the selection panel.

EligibilityThe student has shown an advanced conceptual and refined approach to their artwork. They must be able to showcase technique, skill and knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Art through a variety of media. Candidates must also demonstrate sound academic achievement.

To apply candidates must:1. Complete an online Arts Scholarship – Visual Art application available on the College website.

2. Prepare a digital portfolio (e.g. Powerpoint, Prezi presentation) showcasing at least six pieces of work. Candidates will need to provide a brief description of the process, covering date, media, timeline, background and inspiration for the artwork. The digital presentation can be submitted as a link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or on a USB, which can be posted or dropped off at the College. There will be a provision in the application form to insert the link.

Applications close on Friday, 5 March 2021.

The registration fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.

ProcessCandidates will be shortlisted to attend an interview with the selection panel and must be prepared to undertake a practical drawing exercise before their interview with the panel.

TenureScholarships are offered for the duration of the student’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are reviewed each semester and students are expected to maintain active involvement in the Visual Art program. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.

3.2 DanceEligibilityTo apply for a Dance Scholarship, the applicant must have at least four years’ experience at a dance school/academy. Candidates must have taken lessons in ballet and two or more other genres, e.g. contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, tap. Candidates must also demonstrate sound academic achievement.

To apply candidates must:

1. Complete an online Arts Scholarship – Dance application available on the College website.2. Submit a video of the candidate performing two contrasting pieces (max 2 minutes each). The video footage can be provided

as a link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or on a USB, which can be posted or dropped off at the College. There will be a provision in the application form to insert the link.

The registration fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.

Applications close on Friday, 5 March 2021

ProcessCandidates will be shortlisted to attend an audition/interview and asked to prepare three 2- minute routines as per the following genres:

1. Ballet

2. Contemporary

3. Candidate’s choice of genre to be followed by a group workshop

Please note that candidates may be filmed during their performance.

Candidates will be required to wear a leotard and shorts. (Tights/shoes are optional).

Audition music is to be supplied by the candidate on an iPod/iPhone.

TenureScholarships are offered for the duration of the recipient’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are reviewed each semester and are subject to active school participation in the Dance program. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.

3.3 DramaEligibilityCandidates must have a minimum of two years’ experience in community theatre productions, participated in drama workshops and be actively involved with an amateur theatre group.

Candidates must also be able to demonstrate an ability to critically analyse/review dramatic elements and have sound academic achievement.

To apply candidates must:

Complete an online Arts Scholarship – Drama application available on the College website.

Submit a video of the candidate performing two monologues (max 2 minutes each). The video footage can be provided as a link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or on a USB, which can be posted or dropped off at the College. There will be a provision in the application form to insert the link.

Applications close on Friday, 5 March 2021.

The registration fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.

ProcessCandidates will be shortlisted to attend an audition and an interview with the selection panel. For the audition candidates will need to prepare two monologues (3 minutes each):

Option 1 a) Heritage Monologue (e.g. Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen)b) Contemporary Monologue (post-1980).

Option 2 Choose two monologues based on contrasting styles, e.g. dramatic and comical.

Please note that the candidate’s audition may be recorded.

Scholarships are subject to review each semester and are subject to active school participation in the Drama program. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.

3.4 Film and MediaEligibilityCandidates must be able to showcase a high level of creativity and knowledge in film/media production techniques.

To apply candidates must:1. Complete an online Arts Scholarship – Film/Media application available on the College website.

2. Submit samples of their film or media productions (provide links to work, e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). There will be a provision in the application form to insert links.

Applications close on Friday, 5 March 2021

The registration fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.

ProcessCandidates will be shortlisted to attend an interview and asked to prepare a pitch of an original concept for a short film treatment and be prepared to answer questions from the panel.

TenureScholarships are offered for the duration of the recipient’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are subject to an annual review and are subject to active school participation in the Film/Media program.

Film/Media – Arts Scholarship recipients may be required to assist with filming at College events. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.

InterviewShortlisted applicants will be contacted to attend an interview.

4. Sport ScholarshipSports Scholarships exist to develop and support individuals in their chosen sport. The College aims to provide a flexible curriculum, training facilities and individual support to assist candidates in continuing to strive for excellence while making a positive contribution to the College’s sporting programs.

Students entering Years 7 to 11 in 2022 are eligible to apply.

Eligibility

To apply for a Sports Scholarship, candidates must satisfy either Option 1 or Option 2 criteria:

Option 1:Representation at a State or National Level in one or more of the following sports offered at Immanuel Lutheran College: Swimming, Cross Country, Rugby Union, Athletics, Touch Football, Australian Rules Football (AFL), Tennis.

Option 2:Representation in a QLD School Sport Regional team in one or more of the following sports: Basketball, Soccer, Netball, Volleyball, Athletics.

Eligible candidates will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

1. Talent and potential in their nominated sport/s2. Evidence of leadership in nominated sport/s3. Enthusiasm and commitment to the nominated sport/s4. How they will contribute to the Immanuel Lutheran College’s sporting program5. Sound academic achievement

To apply candidates must:

Complete a Sports Scholarship application form available on the College website.

1. Provide at least two references from a coach, addressing the questions provided on the Coach’s Reference form, which is available on the website.

2. Provide reference/s from a club or representative team manager who can attest to the candidate’s achievements, commitment and sportsmanship.

Applications close on Friday, 27 August 2021.

Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a panel interview and to prepare a 4-minute presentation (visual aids may be used) outlining their goals, past sporting performances and how they will contribute to the College if they are awarded a scholarship.

Tenure

Scholarships are offered for the duration of the student’s enrolment at Immanuel Lutheran College. Scholarships are reviewed each semester and students are expected to maintain active involvement in Immanuel’s sporting program. A demonstrated commitment to their academic studies and adherence to College policies and Code of Conduct are also expected.
