• We plan to continue combining EAPs and maps into easy-to-use binders for Emergency Managers• Provide yearly updates• Add low-hazard inundation maps to the binders• Add large-scale maps (electronic)• Add dam safety ratings to binders
• Analyze watersheds, reservoirs and spillways to calculate maximum allowable safe inflows into reservoirs to help owners/operators operate their dams safely

Going Forward – NDWR’s Plans
• NRS/NAC changes to clarify EAP requirements• Create EAP template and checklist to help EAP producers• Establish breach scenarios for inundation mapping• Determine minimum flow rates that downstream
flooding begins (without dam failure)• Establish requirements for tailings dam inundation
mapping to more accurately simulate inundation areas• Possibly require inundation map timeline videos to help
Emergency Managers plan evacuations• Standardize inundation map details and callouts

Going Forward – How Can We Help You?• How can our office help you with regards to dam safety?• What can we do to make Dam EAPs better for you?
• What do you want to see in an EAP?• How do you want EAPs presented?• Help put on Table-top Exercises

• Know what dams are where in your jurisdiction• Know what dams have EAPs and where the EAPs are
located• Review EAPs on file and provide feedback to our office• Exercise your EAPs - ask dam owners to put on a Table-
Top Exercises• Work with dam owners to help prepare EAPs

• Notice when downstream conditions of a dam change or will change. This can change hazard ratings, inundation areas, inundation hazards, etc.• Notify our staff. We can make an owner update or
create a new EAP to reflect downstream condition changes, i.e., a new development is planned below a dam
