天天猴子身上的號碼都是猴年:1918;1930;1942;1954;

The numbers on the Tian Tian Monkey belong to the Years of the Monkey in the Chinese Zodiac: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028, 2040... They all are even numbers. Knowing that 2016 is the year of the Red Fire Monkey, I've chosen the colours of red and gold for this Tian Tian Monkey.

Monkeys are lively and energetic, like the vibrant heartbeat of an innocent child, making progress everyday. Where is this childlike mind? It is in the most mischievous part. Though one sits there all day long, it cannot be seen because the distracted mind has such fun. Children like asking questions. Asking questions provides a kickoff to everything. At the start of a year, let's ask ourselves, our heart, and then, without regrets, with finger pointing forward, let's stride ahead confidence.

The Year of the Monkey generates a great desire for travelling. Safety is a priority during trips. I hope, like a monkey's tail, we can be versatile and adaptable so that we travel around the world in safety with wishes accomplished.

In the 1990s, Shigetaka Kurita created the first emoji icons for pager and SMS users in Japan. Later on Willem Van Lancker, during his internship at Apple, further developed and designed the emoji in a realistic style. The first set of Emoji (graphical emoticons) was born and installed in iOS. Since then it has become a new kind of global language. The popularity of emoji reflects the significance of images that go beyond the emotions limited by words, as well as transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.

Spring couplets or Fai Chun are considered a special art form that involves the art of calligraphy and poetry. It is one of the most important decorations for the Lunar New Year in Chinese culture. Traditionally, people write congratulatory phrases or poems of prosperity on red paper to create a festive atmosphere in the house. Creating spring couplets is a festive activity, and the best ones are created with your own hands or by traditional artisans.

I AM A MONKEY!“I AM A MAN!” was a declaration of independence against oppression. Historically the term “boy” was used as a pejorative racist insult towards men of colour and slaves, indicating their subservient social status of being less than ‘men’. In response, “Am I not a man?” became a bold phrase used by abolitionists. Since then “I AM A MAN!” has been used in promoting justice, humanity and freedom.Wishing everyone of us live in love and peace in the year of the monkey.

The Year of the Monkey is also called the Shen Year. Shen, meaning the ninth in an order, signifies the ripening state in the fruition process of a plant. Therefore, I've chosen nine kinds of fruits and made them into different patterns on the monkey.
