2020 ASCE STUDENT CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Page 1 of 8 The American Society of Civil Engineers Houston Branch has funded the 2020 ASCE Student Chapter Scholarship Fund and will be awarding scholarships to outstanding students from the local ASCE Houston Branch university student chapters. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of overall merit, in recognition of personal student achievements, involvement and achievements with the ASCE Student Chapter, and with regard to financial responsibility. The number and value of each scholarship award will be determined upon receipt of the scholarship applications. The total number and dollar amount of Scholarship awards is determined each year by the ASCE Houston Branch, however the minimum amount of any award this year will be $500. Who is Eligible? At the time of application, the candidate applying for the 2020 Student Scholarship award must meet all the following qualifications to be considered: 1. The candidate must be enrolled in ABET accredited program of B.S. of Civil Engineering or B.S. of Engineering Technology. The candidate must be enrolled in either of these programs at one of the following ASCE Houston Branch core colleges: Prairie View A&M University Rice University Texas Southern University University of Houston – Main Campus University of Houston – Downtown Campus University of Texas at Tyler – Houston Engineering Center 2. The candidate must be an undergraduate with Full-Time status (i.e. 12 credit hours of coursework) 3. The candidate must be a current member in good standing of their respective ASCE Student Chapter. 4. The candidate must be willing to participate in an interview with the selection committee, if necessary.

How do you apply?

1. In order to be eligible for consideration, the application must be received no later than 5:00 pm

on Friday, April 24th, 2020.

2. The candidate should submit the following:

a. Required – Scholarship Application (see attached)

b. Required – Most recent university transcript (unofficial is acceptable)

c. Required – Resume

d. Optional – One letter of recommendation written and signed by a current or past

professor, current faculty advisor, or a current supervisor at your present employer. This

recommendation letter can be provided with the application package or submitted

separately by the Recommender directly to [email protected].

3. Email a PDF version of the entire application package to: [email protected]
