4.� Eligibility

Category 1st� year� students 2nd� and� 3rd� year� transfer� students

Nationality

Foreign� applicants� whose� parents� are� both� citizens� of� countries� other� than�

Republic� of� Korea� and� who� meet� the� following� requirements:

- Before� the� applicants� began� high� school,� the� applicants� and� their� parents� must�

have� acquired� the� foreign� citizenship.

- Applicants� who� possessed� dual� citizenship� must� show� proof� of� applicants� and�

their� parents� having� renounced� their� Korean� citizenship

Requirements

One� of� the� following� requirements� must� be� met� for� application:

- TOPIK� Level� 2� or� higher

(The� TOPIK� transcript� must� be� valid� after� July� 17,� 2020)

- Certificate� of� YU� TOPIK

(YU� TOPIK� is� the� Korean� test� which� is� developed� by� Yeungnam� University)

- Completion� of� Level� 3� or�

higher� at� Korean� Language�

Centers� at� Korean�

universities

- Completion� of� Level� 4� or� higher� at� Korean�

Language� Centers� at� Korean� universities

2nd� year

� -� Applicants� must� have� completed� secondary�

education� and� at� least� one� full� year� in� a�

degree� program� at� a� four-year� university� or�

have� graduated� from� a� 2� or� 3-year� program�

at� an� accredited� college.

- Criteria� for� 2nd� year� transfers� :� Applicants�

who� have� passed� at� least� 1/4� of� the� credits�

necessary� for� graduating� from� a� degree�

program� at� a� four-year� university

1)� For� applicants� who� wish� to� transfer� to� the�

3rd� year

� -� Applicants� must� have� completed� secondary�

education� and� at� least� two� full� years� in� a�

degree� program� at� a� four-year� university� or�

have� graduated� from� a� 2� or� 3-year� program�

at� an� accredited� college.

- Criteria� for� 3rd� year� transfers� :� Applicants�

who� have� passed� at� least� 1/2� of� the� credits�

necessary� for� graduating� from� a� degree�

program� at� a� four-year� university

※ Completion� refers� to� attaining� the� necessary� GPA� or� academic� proficiency� as� defined� by� the�

applicant’s� affiliated� university.� Applicants� will� need� to� confirm� whether� or� not� they� have�

satisfied� all� the� conditions� before� applying.� Admission� will� be� revoked� for� failure� to� meet� all�

the� above� mentioned� conditions.

1.� All� submitted� documents� should� be� original� copies� and� photo� copies� are� only� allowed�

extenuating� circumstances.� If� an� applicant� acquires� admission� through� copied� documents,�

he/she� must� submit� the� originals� to� Yeungnam� University� by� the� end� of� the� final�

registration� period.

2.� If� original� documents� are� in� foreign� languages� besides� Korean(or� English),� applicants� should�

submit� the� documents� with� their� notarized� translation� in� Korean� (or� in� English).� (E.g.� High�

School� Graduation� Certificate� (or� expected� graduation� certificate),� transcript,� family�

registration,� finance� verification� (certificate� of� employment� or� certificate� of� income)� �

3.� If� original� documents� are� translated� in� Korean� (or� in� English)� by� an� organization� other� than�

the� document� issuing� authority� or� a� translation� agency,� a� certificate� of� translation� should� be�

submitted.� (Refer� to� Form� 4� from� Korean� Immigration� Office.)

4.� Admitted� applicants� who� are� expecting� to� graduate,� must� submit� a� certificate� of� graduation�

to� the� International� Students� Services� Office� before� the� enrollment.

5.� All� academic� records� will� be� verified� by� the� admission� committee.� In� the� event� of� false�

information� being� provided,� admission� will� be� revoked.

6.� The� admission� committee� may� request� additional� documents� for� admission� review.

7.� It� is� the� responsibility� of� the� applicant� to� provide� documents� which� are� free� of� errors.� Once�

submitted,� the� information� cannot� be� changed.� At� any� point� in� time,� submitted� documents�

(and� their� translations)� which� are� found� to� contain� false� information� will� result� in� admission�

being� revoked.�

8.� If� the� applicant’s� name� differs� on� any� of� the� submitted� documents,� a� proof� of� identity�

issued� by� an� applicant’s� native-country� legislative� agency� must� be� submitted.

9.� Applicants� must� inform� the� International� Student� Services� Office� if� their� contact� information�

changes� during� the� admission� process.

� A.� Once� final� registration� at� the� University� has� been� completed,� admitted� students� can� not� apply�

for� other� departments� or� other� universities.

1) Applicants� who� wish� to� give� up� their� admission� after� registration� must� fill� in� ‘Withdrawal�

of� Admission’� form,� obtained� by� visiting� the� International� Student� Services� Center� during�

August,� 2020.� If� done� after� the� semester� begins,� refund� will� be� according� to� the� YU�

tuition� refund� regulation.

� � 1)� The� Hague� Convention� Abolishing� the� Requirement� of� Legalization� for� Foreign� Public�
