Kaweah Lodge #379 Welcomes You to the Upcoming Camporee
We welcome all Scouts and Scouters to the upcoming Camporee. In our quest
to make each Camporee different and exciting every year, this year we have
put together a program that will demonstrate their outdoor skills, preparedness
for the unexpected, team work, and quick thinking by the patrols and their
leaders.
Scouting endeavors to teach us many skills to prepare Scouts for life. This
year’s Camporee will again test one’s individual and team skills. Thinking
through the challenges that face us and coming up with good solutions are vital
to taking care of ourselves in the outdoors, especially when we must get out of
a difficult situation.

Scoring Patrol Scoring is based on multiple categories:
Check-in, lunch, overall campsite, dinner, numbers in patrol, 1st time Scout attending a Camporee, the 12
camporee events, the two bonus events.
Unit Scoring is based on: First aid kit present and visible, Med. Forms for all attendee’s in camp, Unit
Camporee Staff Volunteers, is the campsite set up in an organized manner, Unit gateway and if completed
early registration for the Camporee.
Patrols should consider themselves under judging from the time of check in to the time of check out. You
never know who might be watching; so, let us always put our best foot forward!
• Check-in: Patrols will check-in to the camporee together after arriving at camp. Please do not check
in until your entire patrol is present and ready. Please keep the check-in area clear so that patrols that
are ready to check in can readily do so. During check-in, patrols will be asked to show numbers
registered, have troop or patrol flag ready on a pole, patrol first aid kit, a compass, demonstrate their
“patrol yell/cheer” and be whole ready as a patrol to march to their campsite with their personal gear
after check-in is complete.
• Campsites: your campsite will be furnished with a picnic table and running water. Patrols will need
to set up camp in an orderly way. Pathways will need to remain clear, and gear should be neat and
organized to reflect good stewardship. Patrols must maintain garbage collection/disposal and a camp
first aid kit.
• Meals: shall be cooked by each patrol and should be well balanced and filling. Menus should be
made by patrols and can be shown digitally or on paper. A meal duty roaster should also be planned
and shown by the patrol digitally or via paper. Meals need to fit into the time allotted by the attached
schedule.
• Medical and activity consent forms: must be maintained by the Adult in charge at all times and
present at camp. Please note that these are private and sensitive information and must be secured at
all times.
• Camporee Events: Each event will be judged on skill, teamwork, reporting in/out, scout spirt, and
enthusiasm.
• Bonus events: will be judge in a similar way to the camporee events, just with lower scoring.
Editors: Richard Christman & Skipper Ken Shupe
Page 7 of 12 (Rev. 2019.03.01)
• Score Card: Each patrol during check in will be given a score sheet. This sheet will have the map,
schedule and boxes to record scores on.
• Scout Spirt: Every scout is encouraged to show scout spirt during the camporee. Guided by the Scout
Law, each scout will be given the opportunity to shine. Scouts within the patrol are encouraged to
help or guide their fellow scouts. Further patrols are encouraged to give encouragement to other
patrols as well! Cheering is encouraged!
• Unit Gateway: Each troop should design a gateway into their campsite. Units as a whole can work on
this aspect. The gateway should be able to identify themselves as scouts and which Unit number.
Units are encouraged not to use the same gateway every year and to tailor their gateway to the theme
of the Camporee each year. Let scouts get creative! Please make sure gateways are not destructive to
the environment and will not be knocked down or carried away by winds.

Scoutmaster Dutch Oven Cooking Contest
The rules on this are simple: You prepare an entrée or dessert for dinner in a
Dutch oven.
This will be sampled by the staff and judged (and furnish dinner for the staff
volunteers).
The purpose of the contest is to allow you to show off your talents, claim
bragging rights (and your name engraved on the perpetual trophy at the

Camporee Staffing
We are asking each troop or crew to recommend 3-6 Scouts to serve as
Camporee Staff (preferably members of the Order of the Arrow and/or older
Scouts with camporee experience) as well as two (2) Assistant Scoutmasters.
Scoutmasters, please encourage your senior members to be on staff. It is now
their turn to give back to our council’s featured Boy Scout activity.
We need a large number of staff members to facilitate the number of patrols
and Scouts participating in all of the patrol events -- your support on this will
be appreciated.
We will be taking Camporee staff applications until May 1 (applications
included in this booklet). Camporee staff will register for camporee with their
units -- exception is Venturers age 18-20 or non-Scouters (age 21+) may
register as individuals if they are not camping with unit and serving as troop
leaders during camporee.
