Dr. Angelo Dave Javier, originally from the
Philippines, has joined HSN’s Cardiology
Department. Following his medical training
and Cardiology residency in 2012, Dr.
Javier relocated to Tokyo, Japan where he
completed his first Adult Congenital Heart
Disease Fellowship. Dr. Javier completed a
second Adult Congenital Heart Disease
Fellowship, including a post-doctoral
Clinical Research Fellowship in Heart
Disease during Pregnancy, at the Toronto
General Hospital from 2014-2016.
Subsequently he completed an
Echocardiography Fellowship from 2016-
2018. In addition to his Level 3 TEE
training, Dr. Javier is HSN’s first
Cardiologist trained in paediatric echo
reading, having recently finished a
Paediatric Echo Fellowship at SickKids this
December 2018.

Originaire des Philippines, le Dr Angelo Dave
Javier s’est joint au Service de cardiologie
d’HSN. Après sa formation médicale et sa
résidence en cardiologie en 2012, il a
déménagé à Tokyo, au Japon, où il a fait sa
première formation complémentaire en
cardiopathie congénitale de l'adulte. De 2014
à 2016, à l’Hôpital Toronto General, il a suivi
sa deuxième formation dans ce domaine, y
compris une formation complémentaire
clinique postdoctorale en maladies du cœur
durant la grossesse. De 2016 à 2018, il a
suivi une formation complémentaire en
échocardiographie. En plus de sa formation
en échocardiographie transœsophagienne
(niveau 3), le Dr Javier est le premier
cardiologue d’HSN formé en lecture
d’échographies pédiatriques puisqu’il a
terminé une formation complémentaire dans
ce domaine au SickKids, en décembre 2018.

Dr. Mohamed Moustafa Ibrahim is a bilingual
physician (English and Arabic). He is
originally from Egypt and completed his
medical training and Cardiology Residency
there (2005). After completing his training, he
went on to practice Cardiology in areas such
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar (2005-2016).
During this time he also completed a PhD in
Cardiovascular Medicine (2015). Dr. Ibrahim
then relocated to Canada where he
completed a Cardiology Clinical Fellowship in
Medical Diagnostic Unite, Echo Lab (2017)
and most recently, just completed a
Fellowship in Heart Function Service (2019)
at McMaster University. Dr. Ibrahim has

Le Dr Mohamed Moustafa Ibrahim est un

Dr. Ravinder Jeet Singh is a
multilingual physician (English, Punjabi,
Hindi and Kannada), originally from
Northern India. He completed his medical
school at the JJM Medical College
in Karnataka, India (2008) as well as his
internship (2009). Dr. Singh went on
to complete a Neurology Residency with the
National Institute of Mental Health and
Neurosciences in Karnataka, India (2014),
as well as a Postdoctoral Stroke Fellowship
from the same institution (2016) where he
joined as an assistant professor in
Neurology. Later, he worked as a general
and stroke neurologist at Max Super
Specificity Hospital, Dehradun India (2017).
He most recently completed a Clinical
Stroke Fellowship with the Calgary Stroke
Program at Foothills Medical Centre at the

Dr. Amparo Wolf is a bilingual physician,
originally from the Ottawa/Gatineau region.
She completed a Bachelor of Science with
honours (2001), before completing a Masters
in Neuroscience, both at the University of
Toronto (2003). She subsequently completed
the combined MD/PhD program in Medical
Sciences at the University of Toronto (2012),
followed by Neurosurgical Residency at the
University of Western Ontario (2018). After
Residency, Dr. Wolf went on to complete a
Fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology at MD
Anderson Medical Centre in Houston, Texas
(2019). Dr. Wolf has a keen interest in brain
and spinal tumours as part of her practice.
She is currently Assistant Professor at the
Northern Ontario School of Medicine and has
started practicing in HSN’s Department of
Neurosurgery in July 2019. Please join us in

Dr. Jad Saab is a bilingual physician
(English and Arabic), originally from
Lebanon. He completed a Bachelor of

Le Dr Jad Saab est un médecin bilingue

Dr. Hooman Hennessey

Dr. Hooman Hennessey is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to completing his training in medicine, Dr. Hennessey completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, followed by a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at McGill University. Dr. Hennessey then went on to complete his Medical Degree and Diagnostic Radiology residency training there as well. Following residency, he completed further fellowship training in Vascular Interventional Radiology at the University of Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital), while providing DI locum support in various locations. Dr. Hennessey is both a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and also a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (DABR). Since completing his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology, Dr. Hennessey has been practicing in various locum positions in Ontario and Manitoba. His commitment to research and teaching has earned him 11 publications and numerous abstracts/posters at various national and international medical conferences. He has mentored several case presentations and more recently at Resident & Fellows Day at the annual Canadian IR meeting (CAIR) in 2018, his resident (from the University of Manitoba) won best case presentation. Dr. Hennessey has provided locum support to the HSN’s Department of Medical Imaging for just over a year before accepting a permanent position at HSN. Dr. Hennessey is excited to be part of the team who will be providing Endovascular Therapy (EVT) for the treatment of acute ischemic strokes to our region. Le Dr Hooman Hennessey est originaire de Boston, au
Massachusetts. Avant de suivre une formation en médecine, il a
fait un baccalauréat ès sciences en chimie, puis une maîtrise ès
sciences en génie chimique à l’Université McGill. Il y a ensuite fait
son doctorat en médecine et sa résidence en radiodiagnostic. Par
la suite, il a suivi une autre formation complémentaire, soit en
radiologie vasculaire et interventionnelle, à l’Université de
Toronto (Hôpital St. Michael), tout en faisant de la suppléance
locale en visualisation diagnostique, à divers endroits. Il est
associé du Collège royal des médecins et chirurgiens du Canada
ainsi que Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology.
Après avoir terminé sa formation complémentaire en radiologie
interventionnelle, le Dr Hennessey a occupé divers postes de
suppléance en Ontario et au Manitoba. Il a 11 publications à son
actif, qui découlent de son intérêt pour la recherche et
l’enseignement, ainsi que bien des résumés et des
communications lors de conférences médicales de portée
nationale et internationale. Il a mentoré plusieurs présentations
de cas. En 2018, lors de la journée des résidents et des associés
dans le cadre de la rencontre canadienne annuelle sur la
radiologie d’intervention (Association canadienne pour la
radiologie d’intervention), son résident (de l’Université du
Manitoba) a remporté le prix de la meilleure présentation. Le
Dr Hennessey a fait de la suppléance locale au Service d’imagerie
médicale pendant un peu plus d’un an avant d’accepter un poste
permanent à HSN. Il est ravi de faire partie de l’équipe qui offrira
la thérapie endovasculaire pour traiter les AVC ischémiques graves

Dr. Peter Gianakopoulos

Dr. Peter Gianakopoulos is originally from
Toronto. Prior to completing his Medical
Degree, he completed a PhD in
Biochemistry at Western University (2007),
followed by a Post-Doctorial Fellowship in
Neurogenetics (2009). He then went on to
complete his Medical Degree at the
University of Toronto (2013) and
subsequently completed his residency
training in Diagnostic Radiology at Memorial
University in Newfoundland (2018).
Following this, Dr. Gianakopoulos went on
to complete an Abdominal Imaging
Fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences
Centre (2019).
Dr. Gianakopoulos provided some locum
coverage at HSN over the summer and fall
and has since relocated to Sudbury to
accept a permanent position in our Medical
Imaging Department. Please join us in
welcoming Dr. Gianakopoulos to HSN and
Sudbury.
Dr Peter Gianakopoulos

Le Dr Peter Gianakopoulos est originaire de
Toronto. Avant de faire son doctorat en
médecine, il a terminé un doctorat en
biochimie à l’Université Western (2007), puis
une formation complémentaire postdoctorale
en neurogénétique (2009). Il a ensuite
terminé son doctorat en médecine à
l’Université de Toronto (2013), puis sa
résidence en radiodiagnostic à l’Université
Memorial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador
(2018). Enfin, il a terminé une formation
complémentaire en imagerie abdominale au
Centre Sunnybrook des sciences de la santé
(2019).
Durant l’été et l’automne, le
Dr Gianakopoulos a fait de la suppléance
locale. Depuis, il a déménagé à Sudbury pour
accepter un poste permanent au sein de
notre Service d’imagerie médicale.

Dr. Thelina Amaratunga

Dr. Thelina Amaratunga, Radiologist, is
originally from Sudbury. Prior to completing
his Medical Degree, he completed a
Bachelor of General Science at Laurentian
University (2009). Dr. Amaratunga then
went on to complete his Medical Degree at
Michael G. DeGroote, School of Medicine
(2013) while simultaneously completing a
Master’s Degree through McMaster
University's MD/MSc. Dual Degree
Program. Dr. Amaratunga completed his
residency training in Diagnostic Radiology
at the University of Manitoba (2018) and
subsequently completed additional
fellowship training in Gastrointestinal/
Genitourinary Imaging at the Mayo Clinic in
Minnesota (2019). Dr. Amaratunga has
recently moved back to Sudbury to join our
Medical Imaging Department. Please join

Le Dr Thelina Amaratunga, radiologue, est
originaire de Sudbury. Il a obtenu un

inscrit à la maîtrise, soit au programme de
