RANDAL TYSON TRACK CENTER

The Randal Tyson Track Center first opened on the University of Arkansas campus in 2000 with a specially designed track, originally built by Mondo for the World Championships in Toronto, Canada. The track itself is a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track that has 60-meter straightaways running the entire length of the facility. It also includes men’s and women’s jumping runways and pits. The surface of the track is red and gray Mondo, and the Razorbacks’ home indoor track was resurfaced prior to the start of the 2011 track and field season. A new 36-x-20 custom video scoreboard system by Daktronics was installed in time for the 2005 NCAA Championships. It features a 23-x-13 video display screen with instant replay, electronic timing and scoring capabilities. With all of the major events that are held in the facility, the Tyson Track Center was built to handle the demands for the many media outlets. The press box is two-tiered offering 50 seats and has an announcer’s booth. There are four elevated camera positions located around the track. A media room is also available in the north concourse.



Since opening, the Razorbacks’ $8 million home facility has played host to numerous world-class indoor meets, including eight SEC Championships—most recently, the 2016 indoor conference meet— and 12 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Widely considered the fastest indoor surface ever constructed, the Tyson track has been home to numerous world records, American records and an impressive percentage of current NCAA and NCAA Championship meet records. In a re-dedication ceremony held Feb. 12, 2011, during the 2011 Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, the Randal Tyson Track Center was recognized as “The Home of the Fastest Indoor Track in the World.” The recently completed Fowler Family Baseball and Track Training Center provides an expansive check in and warm up area for track meets and will allow all indoor meet throwing events to be held on site. The weight throw and shot put practice/competition area is separate from the baseball training area allowing for dual training in the facility. For track competition, this facility will allow for all throwing events to be held at the Fowler Family Baseball and Track Training Center instead of the Walker Pavilion. The facility also includes four (4) 60 meter sprint lanes for track meet warm-up prior to events. With the addition of this venue adjacent to the Tyson Indoor Track Facility, track events will conduct clerking/warm-up here and make existing warm-up space in Tyson Indoor available to be converted to a shared strength and conditioning space and satellite training room. More than 15 years after it first opened its doors, the Randal Tyson Track Center is still one of the premiere indoor track and field venues in the world. WEIGHT ROOM AVAILABILITY

Access to the Randal Tyson Track Center weight room will be open by request only Wednesday, February 20 through Saturday, February 23. Please contact Mat Clark ([email protected]) to schedule time. Athletes using the weight room must be supervised by a team coach.




IMPLEMENT/POLE STORING AND SHIPPING

The University of Arkansas will NOT accept delivery of pole vault poles. All poles should be shipped to hotels.

SPIKE POLICY Only 1/4 inch or 7mm pyramid spikes allowed for all events but high jump. For high jump, 3/8 inch or 9mm pyramid spikes allowed. No needle/pin or Christmas tree spikes allowed at any competition or warm-up venue. Competition shoes manufactured with permanent spikes are exempt from spike length requirements.

IMPLEMENT WEIGH-IN SCHEDULE Implement weigh-in and impounding will take place in the weigh-in area on the east end of the Fowler Building in the track storage room. Implements will be accepted during the following times: Thursday, February 21 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Friday, February 22 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturday, February 23 11:00 am – 2:00 pm All implements must be turned in at least 90 minutes before the warm-up period for the first flight of an event. If an event is scheduled early, implements can be checked the day before. Once an implement is submitted for certification, it will remain impounded until the completion of the event. Illegal implements will be secured and may be picked up at the conclusion of competition of that event. Only certified implements may be used during official warm-ups and competition. Implements passing certification will be brought to the event site 45 minutes before the start of the event. Implements can be picked up at the conclusion of the event finals. Competitors who require implements for practice after weigh-in should bring secondary implements.



COACHES & ATHLETE INFORMATION

ATHLETE FLOW Drop-Off: Student-athletes and coaches may enter Randal Tyson Track Center through the southeast doors (see map on page 26).

Warm-Ups: Warm-ups will take place in the Fowler Training Center which is attached to the Randal Tyson Track Center. Please see diagram on page 27.

ATHLETIC TRAINING Please see information on athletic training/sports medicine on page 20.

AWARDS/RECOGNITION Championship team trophies and the Commissioner’s Trophy, presented to the athlete scoring the most points will be presented as soon as possible following the conclusion of the competition on Saturday. Individual and relay medals will be presented to the top three (3) finishers in each event. Each Student-Athlete eligible to participate in and travel to an SEC Championship Event (as designated by the head coach on the SEC Championship Eligibility List signed prior to the event) will receive a championship participation gift from the Southeastern Conference.

BUILDING HOURS The Randal Tyson Track Center and Fowler Center open their doors to competing athletes at 7:30 am each day of competition. Practice times for both buildings are covered in this manual.

BUS DROP-OFF/PARKING Teams will be allowed to drop off at the southeast doors of the Randal Tyson Track Center. After dropping off, buses will be directed to park at Baum East (see map on page 28). Team vans/cars/SUVs will be allowed to park in the large parking lots directly north and east of the baseball (Baum) stadium which is directly across the street from Tyson. Parking passes will NOT be necessary for teams. Please see a complete parking map on page 28.

CLEAR BAG POLICY Please see page 30 for a document outlining the Southeastern Conference Clear Bag Policy that will be in place for the 2019 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships. This policy limits the type and size of bags/purses/backpacks that spectators can bring into athletics facilities at the University of Arkansas. Athletes and coaches with a credential who enter through the athlete/coach entrance on the southwest corner of the facility will not be subject to this policy.

COACHES’ BOXES Coaches’ areas are located at strategic positions throughout the arena. Please refer to the map on page 26 to locate each position. The first row of seats all around the track is reserved for coaches.



COACHES’ MEETING/MEAL The coaches and key officials’ meal will take place on Thursday, February 21 at 11:30 am in the hospitality area on the southwest corner of the Tyson Center. Coaches, SIDs, Athletic Trainers and Administrators are welcome to attend. Please limit your party to 10 individuals per institution. Email your reservation to Matt Downs ([email protected]) no later than 5:00 pm CST on Friday, February 15, 2019.

The mandatory technical meeting for coaches and officials will follow the lunch at approximately Noon.

COMPETITION BIBS Competition bib must be worn on the front of the uniform jersey. Pole vault athletes may wear their bib on the back of their jersey. Athlete competition bibs, along with 4 pins per athlete, will be included in the packets picked up at the coaches’ meeting.

CREDENTIALS [SEC Bylaw 12.3.1] All credentials shall be issued according to a numbering system (or other comparable method) to ensure only the appropriate individuals have access to specified areas.

Athlete Credentials will be issued to each declared Student-Athlete. Credentials must be visible at all times to gain admittance into the Tyson Indoor Track Center and the Fowler Center warm-up facility. Bib numbers are not acceptable for admission into either venue.

Coaches Credentials will be distributed in accordance with NCAA limitations on size of coaching staffs. Two team managers per gender and two administrators may also receive a credential. Two medical credentials per gender will be available for trainers and/or team physicians.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES Per NCAA rules, the use of electronic devices will not be allowed in warm up and/or competition venues. This includes the Randal Tyson Track Center and the Fowler Family warm-up facility.

ELIGIBILITY All student-athletes must be certified as eligible by the institution as required by the SEC prior to participating in the SEC Championships.

ENTRY DEADLINES/DECLARATIONS Direct Athletics entries open on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 12:00 pm (CST). All entries (including combined events) received as of Tuesday, February 19, 2019 by 11:59 pm (CST), are declared FINAL.

EQUIPMENT (Starting Blocks/Batons) Starting blocks will be provided on site by the host meet management, including the warm-up area. Relay teams may use their own batons.




EVENT CHECK-IN AND WARM UPS All athletes MUST be wearing their credential to access the warm-up and seating areas.

Running Events: Student-athletes in running events must check-in at the clerk’s table in the southwest corner of the Fowler Building/Warm-up area at least 60 minutes before the scheduled start time of their event. (They are able to check in before that time.) Student-athletes who are checked in will be able to warm up in the Fowler Building. Student-athletes must be back at the clerk’s area 15 minutes before their event to receive hip numbers and be escorted to the track.

Horizontal Jumps/Throws: Student-athletes will be allowed to begin warm-ups at the site of competition 30 minutes before the start of the competition. If multiple flights are required, a 15 minute flight specific warm-up period will follow a 15 minute general warm-up period prior to the competition. All student-athletes must be checked-in with the event officials at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the first flight of the competition.

High Jump: Student-athletes will be allowed to begin warm-ups at the site of competition 60 minutes before the start of the competition. All student-athletes must be checked-in with the event officials at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the competition.

Pole Vault: Student-athletes will be allowed to begin warm-ups at the site of competition 90 minutes before the start of the competition. All student-athletes must be checked-in with the event officials at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the competition.



FACILITY INFORMATION

Facility Regulations Tape for any marking on the track (relay exchange zones, jumpers’/throwers’ markings) must be white athletic tape. NO other tape will be allowed. Chalk is prohibited for any marking.

High Jump: The high jump paddock provides an area that is 65 feet, seven inches (20 meters) long and 40 feet, 6 inches (12.3 meters) wide.

Long Jump: In the long jump, men will use the runway closest to the sprint straightaway, while women will use the runway farthest from the sprint straightaway. Both runways have two take-off boards.

Men’s Runway: Length - 203 feet, 5 inches (62 meters) Length to take-off board: 1. 196 feet, 10.25 inches (60 meters)

2. 190 feet, 3.5 inches (58 meters) Women’s Runway: Length – 183 feet, 3 inches (55.85 meters)

Length to take-off board: 1. 176 feet, 8.25 inches (53.85 meters) 2. 170 feet, 1.5 inches (51.85 meters)

Both long jump landing pits: 26 feet, 3 inches (Eight meters) The men’s and women’s long jump runways both have two long jump take-off boards. One is located 6 feet, 7 inches (two meters) from the landing pit and the other take-off board is located 13 feet, 1 inch (four meters) from the landing pit.

Triple Jump: In the triple jumps, the women will use the runway farthest from the sprint straightaway, 147 feet, 1.75 inches (44.85 meters) to the take-off board. Take-off board to pit is 36 feet, 1.25 inches (11 meters). The men will use the runway closest to the sprint straightaway, 160 feet, 9.25 inches (49 meters) to take-off boards. The take-off board to pit is 42 feet, 8 inches (13 meters). Both triple jump landing pits: 26 feet, 3 inches (Eight meters).

Pole Vault: The pole vault runway is 144-10 (44.15 meters) to the back of the box.

Fowler Family Baseball and Track Training Facility The Fowler Center will serve as the team camp, warm-up and clerking area.



HEAT SHEETS Heat sheets and live results will be available online (flashresults.com). Results will also be posted under the scoreboard near the mixed zone (see map on page 26). At the end of each day of competition, heat sheets for the next day and results from that day will be available to coaches at the protest table one hour after the final event of the day is contested. Results and heat sheets will be also posted online at FlashResults.com.

HOSPITALITY The hospitality area will be available to all coaches, media, team medical personnel and administrators with a valid championship credential. Student-athletes will not be allowed in this area. Hospitality will be located near the southwest corner of the Tyson Center.

LOST AND FOUND Lost and found will be kept at the protest table in the southwest corner of the Tyson Center.

MERCHANDISE Official SEC merchandise will be sold in the lobby of the Randal Tyson Track Center during the competition.

MIXED ZONE The mixed zone is located on the east side of the arena (see map on page 26). After the completion of their heat or flight, student-athletes will be brought directly to the mixed zone from their competition venues. The mixed zone will be split in half. On one half will be the basket pickup area and the other half will be for an area for media members to contact individual student-athletes Competitors who did not finish in the top three (3) places will be escorted out of the mixed zone area so that they may proceed to team seating areas.

PARKING Teams will be allowed to drop off at the southeast doors of the Randal Tyson Track Center. After dropping off, buses will be directed to park at Baum East (see map on page 28). Team vans/cars/SUVs will be allowed to park in the large parking lots directly north and east of the baseball (Baum) stadium which is directly across the street from Tyson. PASS LIST Competing teams may submit their pass list to the Arkansas ticket office. Lists must be submitted no later than Thursday, February 19, at 5 pm CST. All SEC pass list policies will be applied. The Arkansas ticket office will send competing schools an invoice for the tickets used. The pass list will be located at the main entrance of the Randal Tyson Track Center (see map on page 26). A photo ID will be necessary to gain entrance using the pass list.

POLE VAULT/POLE STORAGE Coaches and teams are instructed to make arrangements with their hotels for the shipping of pole vault poles. Vaulting poles will be stored underneath the bleachers in the southeast corner of the arena. The pole vault runway is 162-9 (49.6 meters) to the back of the box.



PREFRRED LANES When preferred lanes are needed for seeding purposes, the following will be used: Races on the straight: 4 – 5 – 3 – 6 – 2 – 7 – 1 – 8 Races on the oval: 5 – 6 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1

PROTEST TABLE The protest table will be located in the southwest corner of the arena. All protests relating to matters which develop during the meet should be made as quickly as possible, and no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of the event in question. Protests must be made by a coach and submitted to the officials at the protest table. A $50 fee must accompany each filed protest. This fee is refundable only if a result is overturned. Meet officials will deliver the protests to the referees. The referees’ written decision will be returned to the protest table. There is no jury of appeals, the decision of the referees is final.

If an athlete is disqualified, the head coach or his/her representative must be notified immediately by the meet referee of the disqualification. Any resultant protest must be filed as soon as possible, but no later than 15 minutes after disqualification.

RELAY CARDS Relay cards should be submitted to officials at the clerk’s table during athletes check-in 30 minutes prior to the start of the relay. NOTE: Only one member of the team is required to check in for relays. Relay cards will be available in your coaches’ packet and extras will be provided at the clerk of course.

RESULTS/TIMING Flash Results will handle all the entries, timing and results for the championships. Flash Results provides a high level, professional timing and results service for track and field using the FinishLynx timing system. Results can also be viewed on the 2019 SEC Championships Official website at www.secsports.com and www.flashresults.com

SCORING Team scoring per event is 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

STARTING HEIGHTS Starting heights and progressions will be determined by the Championships Committee using suggestions provided by the coaches. The committee may set the progressions following traditional high jump and pole vault protocol keeping in mind regional qualifying marks and SEC records.

TEAM PACKETS Team packets will be picked up between 11:30 am and noon at the coaches’ meal Thursday, February 21. Coaches should expect to find the following in each packet: Athlete, Coach and Staff Credentials, Final Instructions, Relay Cards, Competitor Bibs, Protest Forms, Parking Passes and Pins. Team t-shirts will also be available to be picked up at this time.

Visiting Team Medical Area: Each team will be permitted to set up their respective team camp in the Fowler Training Center/Warm-up area, which is located to the north side of the Randal Tyson Track Center. This space will also be used as a warm-up area. All treatment tables need to remain in this area. If your multi-event athletes need assistance during their competitions, you will have access to the first-aid section inside the indoor track (southeast corner) as a treatment area. MEDIA INFORMATION & CREDENTIALS

Members of the media (reporters, SIDs, photographers, video) must submit their request for credentials to Jeff Smith by email [email protected] no later than Thursday, February 14, 2019 by 5:00 pm (CST). The credential request form is located in Appendix G. Credentials may be picked up at the ticket office of the Randal Tyson Track Center during the competition dates. Members of the media/SIDs may pick up their credential at the ticket office with a photo ID Saturday-Sunday, beginning 60 minutes before the first event. Photographers and video credentialed for the Championships will need to pick up a photo bib in the press box for access to the track and infield areas. Credentials are non-transferable and must be worn in plain sight at all times (must be visible). Credentials are issued for the sole purpose of providing facility access to the bearer with a legitimate working function in connection with this event. Any unauthorized use of this credential subjects the bearer to having the credential revoked and removal from the venue.

Interview Area Media will have access to student-athletes after all events in the mixed zone, located on the east side of the arena. Please be courteous and respect the Student-Athlete by giving him/her time to cool down. We will try to assist you with any special interview requests you may have (no guarantees). Please work with the institution’s SID or media relations representative on site for additional interview requests

Media Parking Media parking will be located in the small lot directly northeast of the Randal Tyson Track Center across Baum Drive. A parking pass will be required to enter the media lot. Press Area The Randal Tyson Track Center press box is located on the second floor on the north side of the arena. To access the press box, use the two doors in the main lobby.

The press box is equipped with wireless access. Results, heat sheets, quotes and notes will be available in the press box. Complete results, heat sheets and quotes will be posted on ArkansasRazorbacks.com throughout and at the conclusion of each day of competition.

Reaching the Campus: From I-49, take exit #62 - Sixth Street/MLK Blvd./Razorback Road - and turn east on Sixth Street/MLK Blvd. Drive approximately one- half mile to intersection of Sixth Street/MLK Blvd. and Razorback. Turn left onto Razorback Road.

From mid-Fayetteville, take North College Drive (US 71-Business) south. College will become School Street after descending down the hill near downtown. The first traffic light at the bottom of the hill is Sixth Street. Turn right on Sixth Street/MLK Blvd. to the second red light which is Razorback. Turn right onto Razorback Road.

To Randal Tyson Track Center: At the traffic light at the intersection of Sixth Street/MLK Blvd. and Razorback Road, turn south onto Razorback Road. Cross the railroad tracks. The track is located next to Baum Stadium (baseball). Turn into the Baum Stadium parking lot to reach Randal Tyson Track Center parking. The Randal Tyson Track Center is on the left after you pass the baseball stadium. Please see the map on page 28 for location.

Teams have several options for air transport to the University of Arkansas. Please make sure that your ground transportation is coordinated with your airport arrival.

CLEAR BAG POLICY

Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” or one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar). Individuals may also carry a small clutch purses, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”, with or without a handle or strap. All clear bags and clutch purses will be screened prior to entry into the venue. All bags and purses not meeting the above requirements will not be permitted. Although permitted, childcare items, including diapers, must also be carried in an approved clear bag. Individuals carrying required medical supplies or devices into the venue are not subject to the clear bag policy, but will need to go through the bag check line at their entry gate for a thorough screening of the bag and the medical items. The person requiring these supplies or devices must accompany the bag at all times. Medical exception bags will be tagged once cleared through security. Athletes and coaches with a credential who enter through the athlete/coach entrance on the southwest corner of the facility will not be subject to this policy.

2019 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships Pass List Form February 22-23, 2918

This is the only pass list that will be accepted by the host institution. Once this form is submitted, NO CHANGES will be allowed. Pass list additions, changes and/or cancellations will not be accepted after the deadline. All seats will be General Admission and will be picked up on each day of the event by presenting a photo ID. Institutions that submit a pass list will be invoiced following the event and will be billed for

all signatures obtained (tickets used) over the 2 day event.

Forms must be submitted no later than Tuesday, February 19, at 11:59 pm CST. Any pass list forms received after this time will not be accepted.
