SEC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Texas A&M University will serve as host of the 2020 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The meet begins at 11:15 a.m. CT on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Live results can be found at SECsports.com.

Live coverage of the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships will air on SECN+ at 5:10 p.m. CT on Friday and 3:55 p.m. CT on Saturday. The broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Dan O’Brien, Jill Montgomery and Larra Overton. A tape-delayed broadcast of the Championship will air on the SEC Network Sunday at 7 p.m. CT.

A total of 16 Southeastern Conference men’s and women’s track and field programs are included in the top-25 of the latest NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index released Monday. A nation-leading eight SEC men’s programs are ranked in the top-25, including five in the top-10. LSU is ranked No. 2, followed by Florida at No. 3, Georgia at No. 6, Tennessee at No. 8 and Arkansas at No. 10. Texas A&M is ranked 13th, Kentucky is 19th, and Alabama is 23rd. No other conference has more than five teams in the men’s top-25.

A nation-leading eight SEC programs are ranked in the women’s top-25, led by No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Arkansas. Texas A&M and Kentucky are Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, Florida is No. 11, Alabama is No. 17 and Ole Miss is No. 20.

SEC men’s and women’s track and field athletes lead the nation in 11 individual events enter-ing this weekend’s SEC Indoor Championships.

The defending SEC Indoor men’s champion is Florida, which captured its fourth title in 2019. Tennessee has an SEC-leading 25 men’s titles. The men’s title has been won by three differ-ent programs in the last three years.

The defending SEC Indoor women’s champion is Arkansas, which has won nine overall and five in a row. LSU has claimed a league-leading 12 SEC Indoor women’s titles all-time.

Gilliam Indoor Stadium has been selected four times to host the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships (2010, 2011, 2017, 2018) and it has served as host of the SEC Champion-ships twice (2014, 2018).

Tickets for the SEC Indoor Championships range from $10-$25 for General Admission and $20-$35 for reserved seats and can be purchased online at 12thman.com.

» Bishop, Drop, Lampkin Named SEC Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year

Texas A&M’s Jon Bishop, Georgia’s Jessica Drop and Alabama’s Daija Lampkin have been named SEC Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year by a vote of the league head coaches. Bishop holds a 3.936 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in applied mathematical sciences with a compu-tational emphasis. Drop has a 3.92 grade point average, and she is a junior majoring in cellular biology. Lampkin holds a 4.0 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in public health with a minor in biology.
