Event Details
2019 Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival
Since the staging of the first International Dragon Boat Races in 1976, Hong Kong
is recognised as the birthplace of modern dragon boat racing and acclaimed as a
leading dragon boat competition destination. Dragon boat racing has become a
popular paddlesports around the world and was a contesting sport at the 2010
Asian Games;
Sanctioned by International Dragon Boat Federation and recognised as an “M”
Mark event, the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races (IDBR) has become a
Major Sports Event on the annual sporting calendar. IDBR has received the largest
number of overseas dragon boat teams from around the world and attracted keen
local teams from the 18 districts to compete for glory in Victoria Harbour once in a
year. More than 4,800 enthusiastic paddlers from Hong Kong and overseas joined
the races in 2018;

Global Recognition and Participation
Building on the colourful Tuen Ng Festival and promoted as an Asia’s branded
event, the annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival has enjoyed a lot of
attention from visitors and locals;
More games and F&B elements have been incorporated to the event since its
relocation to Central Harbourfront in 2016, with average patronage of over
52,000 spectators, the Carnival has become a well received mega event
featuring an artificial beach, the Splash Fun Area and sunset concerts,
guaranteeing a fun summer party for visitors and locals alike;
With an aim to reinforce Hong Kong as the events capital of Asia, the Carnival
was widely publicised on major local and global media. In 2018, the global
publicity value reached $80.6M with over 950 no. of news reports.

Proposed Sponsorship Package for
Official Hotel
of 2019 Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival
Accommodation for approximately 30 international dragon boat teams of around
724 persons (hosted by HKTB) is required between 13 and 17 June 2019 (5
days/4 nights). A total of 362 twin rooms (1,448 room nights) are required. It is
expected that more than one Official Hotel will be engaged at the end.
An Official Hotel will offer:
1. Minimum 181 complimentary room nights (twin room basis) for
international teams (including athletes, supporting staff and family members) and
2. 543 of room nights of special rate (twin room basis) for invited international
teams (including athletes, supporting staff and family members) during the official
stay (on HKTB’s account).

Right to mention the sponsorship in corporate communications and advertising materials for related
themed promotions and on-site visibility
