12:30-3:30pm, Friday, March 29 in the Barnett Collaboratory The Manuel Barkan Fellowship Award is a competitive grant that supports the academic and living expenses of a doctoral candidate who is completing his/her dissertation in the field of Art Education. The 2019 Barkan Award honoree is Christopher Jeansonne. He will present his doctoral dissertation research: Superheroes in the Classroom, Or: An Autoethnographic Account of Great Power, Responsibility, and Community in a Critical Media Pedagogy. The Marantz Distinguished Alumni Lecture Fund was established in 1999 with gifts from Harold and Kenneth Marantz to honor a distinguished alum of the program. This year's recipient is Dr. Melanie Buffington, PhD 2004. Dr. Buffington will deliver a lecture titled: Visualizing Resources: Diversity in Teaching Materials. PhD student Miranda Koffey will also be honored, as the recipient of AAEP’s third annual Outstanding Graduate Teaching Associate Award. She will present a brief lecture titled: Fostering a Creative Student through Play: What Doesn’t Change by College from K. This event is open to graduate students, alumni, and faculty of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy. Please R.S.V.P. to Brian Javor at [email protected].
