Lenten Fast and Abstinence
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory
days and Fasting and Abstinence for Catholics. In
addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days
of abstinence.
For members of the Roman Catholic Church, the
norms of fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age
59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full
meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not
equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence
from meat are binding upon members of the Latin
Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
Easter Duty Obligation
Because of the central importance of Easter to the
Christian faith, the Catholic Church requires that all
Catholics who have made their First Communion
receive the Holy Eucharist sometime during the Easter
season. Catholics are also encouraged to take part in
the Sacrament of Penance before receiving this Easter
communion. All Catholics are bound to confess sins at
least once a year.
Confessions
During Lent confessions will be heard Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday following
the noon Mass. And on Saturdays at 4:00pm.
Additionally, Monday March 26th is the Annual
Reconciliation Monday throughout the Archdiocese
and confessions will be heard from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
Stations of the Cross
Stations of the Cross will be prayed following the
Noon Mass each Friday
We hope you will join us for this prayerful
meditation on the Lord’s Passion.
