دارای تاريخچه ای کهن و طوالنی به رنگ آبی روشن ، فيروزه يکی از سنگهای قيمتی و زيبا در دوران مختلف و تمدن های گوناگون است.

فيروزه در نزد ايرانيان قديم گاهی نشانگر قدرت و ثروت بوده و گاه برای مصون ماندن شخص استفاده کننده از چشم زخم بوده است. انواع مرغوب اين سنگ در ايران از معادن نزديک شهر نيشابور بدست می آيند. فيروزه در طی جنگ های صليبی از راه ترکيه به اروپا راه پيدا کرد و

در ميان انگليسی زبانان شناخته شده است. (turquoise)ن زمان به بعد به نام سنگ ترکی يا از آ ساکنان قديمی برخی مناطق آمريکا نيز از ايام قديم اين سنگ را می شناختند و در تزئينماسک های مربوط به مراسم مذهبی خود از آن استفاده می کردند و بر اين باور بودند که رنگ
