Advanced Technologies & Materials in High Demand in South East Asia

This exciting conference platform provides industry leaders and visionaries the opportunity to get on center stage with the Who’s Who of the plastics manufacturing industry from the region as well as experts from North America, Europe and China to give high-powered keynote addresses and engage in lively talks and panel discussions.

Vast opportunities in 3 fast-growing sectorsThree main sectors are currently posing high demand for innovative high-performance materials and breakthrough processing technologies in the ASEAN region.

The packaging sector accounts for about half of the total plastic consumption market in the ASEAN region. In the global packaging arena, Southeast Asia accounts for about 50% of the more than $800 billion global packaging market. In Indonesia alone, the large consumer population of over 250 million creates huge demand for packaging. Companies engaged in packaging manufacture for multiple categories, thus demand for injection molded containers, PET bottle, flexible and rigid packaging, as well as new printing and labelling solutions is on the rise.

The region’s automotive sector has been playing a key role in the overall growth of the plastics industry. ASEAN is one of the largest automotive markets in the world. Major vehicle and automotive parts manufacturers have chosen ASEAN countries as location for their production and assembly facilities. Thailand posts the highest automotive sales in the region with share of 44% while Indonesia is on second place with about 34% market share. Indonesia is currently the second largest automotive manufacturer in ASEAN.

Consumer electronics sales have seen dramatic rise in production output among countries in Southeast Asia. Computer hardware sales in Indonesia is expected to reach $3.5 billion in 2020, from $2.9 billion in 2016. Handset or mobile phones sales is seen rising to $8.3 billion in 2020 from $5 billion in 2016, up by 9.2% yearly. The current shift toward high-end consumer electronics, as well as the growing preference for energy-efficient, environment-friendly gadgets provide impetus for recent developments in breakthrough technologies and materials solutions.

Asia Plastics Processing Technology and Innovative Materials Summit 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia (September 6-7 ) is a two-day event of informative presentations and discussions centered on innovative technologies and high-performance materials as applied in fast-growing sectors such as Packaging, Automotive and Consumer Electronics. The event gathers industry experts and professionals from the region in one venue where they can mingle, exchange ideas and expand their network and contacts. Lunches, receptions and cocktails are organized for delegates and industry experts to facilitate networking.
