END-OF-YEAR REPORT

June 30, 2018

Dear Friends of Grindstone PTA:

As we end this school year, I am pleased to share this end-of-year report with all of you. The numbers are very good but they don’t tell the whole story. Here’s what you should know:

✓ We ran a school-wide art contest featuring art which represents ‘hello’ or ‘welcome’ in many countries/languages to be featured as a permeant art piece near the entrance of Grindstone. Our hope is to ensure everyone who enters the doors of Grindstone feels welcome.

✓ The PTA Advisory Board, in partnership with the Alia Bailey Family, purchased a memori-al bench and plaque which is intended to create a space for the Grindstone community to reflect on those we have lost too soon.

✓ We featured six staff members and their families in our monthly newsletter in an effort to get to know our amazing staff better.

✓ We ran a district-wide campaign, more affectionately known as the “Warm Hugs Drive” which was orchestrated by, the very amazing, Erica Bodenmiller in an effort to provide warm blankets, socks, scarves, hats, mittens, hot chocolate, and marshmallows to our districts foster care students at Snow School. Every student was outfitted with the aforementioned items. The generosity throughout the district was staggering. Thank you.

✓ PTA hosted kindergartners (Class of 2030) at Popsicles at the Playground last summer – a program that welcomes new families into our Grindstone community before school even starts.

✓ We initiated a multiplication tutoring program in the 4th grade to help struggling stu-dents pass their multiplication tests.

It has been an honor to represent Grindstone as the PTA President and to work with the par-ents, teachers, staff and students of our wonderful school. I am looking forward to the 2018-2019 school year
