WOW! WHAT A YEAR! SO FAR!!
The music program here at CV has been busy, busy, busy! The students, the faculty, the staff, along with all the attendant help from parent-volunteers. But with this concert, I think we can all sense the forthcoming slow-down just around the corner. At least from a CV perspective.
As president of Crescenta Valley Instrumental Music foundation (CVIM), I want to welcome all of you to this very special concert. Even though marching band has been marching at games and competitions, and even though we’ve already had our annual ensemble concert earlier this fall, and even though jazz band has played several gigs, this is offi cially the fi rst concert for the entire department.
As per usual, Mr. Schick always brings a nice blend of musical literature to this concert, including several pieces associated with the holidays, as well as other classical and contemporary pieces that challenge our young players.
Therefore, please sit back, unwind, open your ears, and enjoy some well-played music for an hour or two. And please keep in mind those sitting near you and don’t talk during the performances. A concert isn’t the time or place for a conversation. It distracts people from the very thing they’re here to hear. Listen instead to the notes and the melodies and marvel at the genius of the composers and the talents of our children.
Thanks to everyone who pitches in and helps out with this concert and throughout the year. Have a terrifi c holiday season. And let me see you at the next CVIM meeting.
Jovially,

JAZZ BAND AT TRAVEL TOWN
Welcome to the 2016 Crescenta Valley High School Instrumental Music Winter Concert!
Tonight, sit back and enjoy the wonderful sounds of the Jazz Band, the String Orchestra, the Wind Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra, and the Falcon Marching Band including Drum Line and Color Guard, as they bring in the Holiday Season through music.
In some ways, it’s been a long 1st semester and in others, it’s passed in the blink of an eye. I am so proud of our young musicians and am eager to share their successes with everyone tonight.
Our goal is to highlight Crescenta Valley’s talented musicians and help to create many beautiful memories through our performances. It’s often said that one song can call up 1,000 memories. Hopefully tonight, we can conjure up 24,000 memories!
So sit back and allow us to take you to a place where you can relax, relive memories, and enjoy the wonderment that only 270+ talented and remarkable Crescenta Valley High School instrumental performers can offer. Happy Holidays!
Musically yours,
Mathew Schick
