Telecommunications

Line of sight

All towers have to be aligned to connect with each other before they can be

built in specific locations. We do this by use of mirrors,

balloons and other manoeuvres. We improve the way

we do the line of sites by

developing easier and

faster ways. This

is also a part of

the site survey

and design.

Site survey and design

We carry out a site survey by doing soil testing. The ground get tested for

any hard rock, this is called a DCP test. All this information will be used to create the DDD

for the site and what type of tower and height will be used to construct this site. This process is the most

important part of the construction of a tower as you cannot build the tower without the DDD. The DDD

will indicate the position and location of the tower as well as what direction it should be facing.

Civil and Plinths

Civil consists of all concrete and structural work that is ongoing on

the towers and co-location sites. There are a lot of steps that needs

to be followed for the concrete work on these towers. We start

these sites by excavating the site which is followed by a copper mat

or grounding bar with a blind on top of it.

This then is followed with re-bar and

shuttering as well as a template for the specific size and

type of tower.

Thereafter concrete will be

poured into the shuttering

over the re-bar and this

then becomes the

foundation of the tower.

These towers can vary from 10m to 200m. We implement

that the foundation of each civil site should stand for at

least 7 to 21 days for the most effective curing process.

Plinths are similar. This is mainly used for the ACDB Box

Installation or the TI Equipment Box Installations.

Co-locations and Rooftop Sites

Co-Location sites are existing sites. On these sites we

install microwave dishes, antennas and also do all

necessary TI Installations that are required to get these

sites commissioned .we also do LTE upgrades on these

sites from 3g to 4g.

These types of sites can be an existing tower or a

rooftop site. On some of these site we need to

build a plinth for the TI Equipment and

install a small tower that is in the shape of a

pole and can range to a height of 10m.in

some locations we need to install a equipment

room to keep the network equipment to a low

temperature to insure that equipment does not over heat and burn out

.These Type of sites are usually called POP Sites and are most basic to construct.

Tower Erections

Tower erections consist of a rigging team working together using

rigging equipment. They use a combination of rope access and fall

arrest techniques to construct these towers .constructing of

telecoms towers are rated the most dangerous work in the world

we are implementing the highest standard of safety in tower

erection known till this day we are also proud to say that in our time

of all operations we have never had a injury on site due to the high

safety precaution that we implement in the industry. The biggest

tower built to this day - 180m.and zero injuries.
