Canine Wellness Day IN EAST CLEVELAND 2016 TRANSPORT PARTNERS

PetFix Northeast Ohio is a 501c3 non-profitorganization [we do not receive any kind of government funding] which means we rely on the generosity of our donors to continue this life-saving work. If you want to make a difference and help save lives, please consider making adonation today. You can mail your donation using the enclosed envelope, or donate online by visiting our website at www.petfixnortheastohio.org. If you want to continue to support us year-round, consider becoming a monthly donor! All donations are tax-deductible.

IN 2016, PETFIX CELEBRATED ITS 10th ANNIVERSARY. And there was much to celebrate!Over the past 10 years we have been able to accomplish amazing things thanks to the support that donors like you have given to this organization.

Together, we ARE making an impact on pet-overpopulation and its tragic consequences. Since we launched our servicesin 2006, PetFix has performed over 55,000 surgeries. That, in and of itself, is an amazing number. But each animal we spay or neuter prevents an average of six unwanted births in the first breeding season alone. That means that we have saved well over a quarter of a million animals from struggling to survive on the streets or being needlessly euthanized because there aren’t enough homes for them.

But we aren’t resting on our laurels. As long as thereare more animals than there are owners to care for them, our work isn’t done. With a waiting list for surgery appointments for most of 2016, we know that the demand is there and we can’t wait to fulfill the needs of our community. In August, we were thrilled to announce that we had received a $33,000 expansion grant from the ASPCA to help us equip our clinic with additional kennels, a fully outfitted surgery suite and more. In November, we brought on a second full-time medical team and began to slowly ramp up our surgery numbers. Our goal is to nearly double our capacity for spay and neuter before the end of 2017.

With your help, we’vecontinued to expand oursuccessful transportprogram, allowing us toservice the same areas wereached with the retiredmobile unit and more! Ourtransport van now travelsnearly every day acrossNortheast Ohio to pick uparea pets for their spay andneuter appointments. Manyof these animals would nothave had access to ourservices if it were not foryour generosity.

2016 was an outstandingyear for PetFix. There is morework to do, but together, we can create a world in which every animal born has a loving home to call its own.

PetFix’s new transport partner,Neighborhood Pets Outreach andResource Center offers affordablespay/neuter surgeries to low-incomepet owners in Cleveland.

You Can Help Save Lives!

Celebrating 10 Years of Saving Lives Through Spay & Neuter

“The Precious Not Parents special really helpedme out. I was able to get a feral momma cat fixed with your regular low price and also got the three kittens of her last litter fixed and rehomed to great, indoor homes with the $20 promotional price. Without this, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to get the mother and kittens fixed and theywould have kept reproducing outside.” – Larisa T.

PetSmart Charities Grant MakesSurgeries EvenMore Affordable

A grant of more than $35,000 enabled PetFix to offer $20 spay/neuter surgeries for over 800 animals throughout 2016. By eliminating the financial barrier that stops many pet parents from having their animals fixed, PetFix was able to proactively prevent pet homelessness in the region. In January, 325 male dogs and cats were neutered during the Happy Neuter Yearcampaign. In February, the Beat the Heat promotion enabled225 female cats to receive their spay surgeries. In June, 214 puppies and kittens were fixed before they could reproduce with the Precious Not Parents promotion. In August, PetFix spayed and neutered 70 pit bull terriers [plus, free nail trim] during Primp Your Pit month.

For many of our clients, even ourregular low prices are out of reachfor them. They often have to choosebetween food or medicine andtaking care of a beloved pet.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Kenneth Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Foundation, PetFix hosted a Canine Wellness Day on September 18th in East Cleveland.PetFix partnered with the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, Friends of the Cleveland Kennel and local veterinarians to provide 162 dogs with free wellness exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter vouchers that day. This event provided essential services for pet owners in one of Ohio’spoorest cities who may not have access to affordable veterinary care. By helping people take care of the pets they love, we’re also helping to keep dogs off the streetsand out of area shelters.

Four young boys came ontheir bikes to the Canine

Wellness Day in East Cleveland, with their dog, Bronx, in tow.

Although their parents chose not to attend, the boys knew it

was important to take care of their dog to keep him healthy.

PetFix is a non-profit organization that provides high quality, affordable spay and neuter surgeries to end pet homelessness and the need for unnecessary euthanasia.

The PetFix

Mission Sips for Snips returns this summer. Stay tuned for details. Our annual bash, the No Balls Ball, will be held Saturday, October 7, at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven.

Both events will raise essential funds to create a regionin which pet overpopulation is a problem of the past andall cats and dogs are born wanted and loved.

PetFix transports dogs and cats every week from area shelters, spays or neuters them, and returns them that same day. Fixed animals are much more adoptable, enabling them to find forever homes faster and free up space for animals in need. PetFix also partners with community organizations, rescues and humane organizations who help us regularly provide care topet owners in their service area who may nothave transportation to the PetFix clinic.

We are honored to join with these transportpartners to provide a better life for companionanimals in our region: •Saving Our Strays Cat Rescue, Ashtabula County

•Cleveland City Kennel, Cuyahoga County

•Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, Cuyahoga County

•Neighborhood Pets Outreach and Resource Center, Cuyahoga County

•Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village, Geauga County

•Friendship Animal Protective League, Lorain County

In addition to our transport partners, PetFixworked closely with more than 20 different shelters, rescues and community cat organizations in 2016 to offer them affordable spay/neuter services foranimals in their care.

On August 10, wepartnered with Friendship APL in Elyria to help them

offer free spay/neuter surgeries to pet owners in

their city during “Operation Cat Snip.” Nearly 50 cats were transported to the

PetFix clinic in Euclid for their surgeries and returned to

their owners that same day.
