Are you seeking a closer relationship with God?Are you interested in

deepening your spiritual journey?

The Sacred Ministry and Art of Spiritual Direction is central to the mission of Stillpoint. The Spiritual Director is one, who with a deep personal faith life, relevant training and formation, experiences a call to companion others on their soul journey. Knowing that the Holy Spirit is the true guide, the Spiritual Director does not “direct” but acts as a listening supportive companion.

The purpose of Spiritual Direction is to recognize and respond to the presence and action of God in one’s daily life. Reasons to seek Spiritual Direction include:• To Identify and trust your own experiences of God• To Integrate spirituality into your daily life • To Discern and make difficult choices • To Share your hopes, struggles, and losses • To Develop a sensitivity for justice and concern for the poor

• To Live the essence of your religious affiliation with integrity

Spiritual Direction is by appointment only. We request a fee for this service. For information on Stillpoint’s many Spiritual Directors, visit Stillpoint and pick up their brochures.

Spiritual Direction Spiritual DirectionSpiritual Directors’ Professional Peer Group SupervisionCollaborating with peers for supportive and non judgmental supervision is an ethical standard for people who work in therapeutic practices. Peer Supervision creates a safe, learning environment where the members relate as peers in an atmosphere of mutual respect, honesty and shared wisdom. Peer Supervision is necessary to develop the inner supervisor needed for accountability in the solitary setting that is Spiritual Direction. Stillpoint offers Peer Supervision to Spiritual Directors who are currently companioning directees, and who have received Certification from a recognized institution, or are interns in a formation program.

Centering Prayer In Community

Developed by Fr. Thomas Keating, Centering Prayer is a method of prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of God’s presence in Contemplative Prayer. Beyond thoughts, words and emotions, Centering Prayer leads to a resting in God. Praying in a group setting creates an atmosphere where the mind is quieted more easily, a sacred community is formed, and practitioners experience a depth that bears fruit in spirit, body and mind. Dates: Every other Tuesday beginning September 6thTime: 12:15 - 12:45 p.m. Gathering and pre-meeting at 12 Noon

Stillpoint Lectio Divina Prayer Groups

This form of Prayer taught at Stillpoint, and practiced by Prayer Groups, is a method that enables the one praying to hear God’s voice and know God’s mind on the subject of his/her prayer. The practice includes Lectio Divina, Journaling, Reflection and Centering Prayer. When practiced daily, it is one of the richest spiritual practices available. It offers a true opportunity for “A Transformative Encounter with God”.

Dates: Every other week (Tues., Wed., Thurs.) beginning September 6

All prayer offerings at Stillpoint are offered on a donation basis.

Blessing and Meditation on How to Handle Disturbing Thoughts and Emotions

The how of “just let it go” is often overlooked... every one of us knows that’s what we need to do, however it’s simple, not easy. The untrained, unobserved mind is more dangerous than a nuclear weapon.. the stories we create, the drama we fall into, the decisions and choices we make when we’re not centered and calm... the damage feels insurmountable. Bhante says, “I know first hand as a young man who dealt with anger.. a character trait not suitable for a Buddhist monk.” Bhante uses his journey of personal transformation to teach us all how to observe our mind and emotions and then use the data from that inner observation to find and transform our decision making point. The result is a life where the crazy thoughts and highs and lows of emotion aren’t gone, instead they are understood and used as guideposts to help us re-find our center... which leads to a life of joy.

About Bhante Sujatha

Bhante Sujatha, a Buddhist Monk for more than 30 years, is singularly focused on adding more love in the world. Bhante teaches loving-kindness meditation to people around the globe for all those seeking the art of happiness and contentment. His approach to meditation is deep and simple, bringing core Buddhist teachings to everyone in a way that is practical and easy to understand. A joyful, radiant, funny and wildly energetic monk, Bhante will help you obtain peace that can only be found in deep silence. He is originally from Sri Lanka and is the head monk/abbot of the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center in Woodstock, IL.

September Book: Nature’s Calling by Gail Collins-Ranadive Many people think of the area surrounding Las Vegas as a barren desert. Hailed as a modern day Thoreau, in her book, Nature’s Calling Gail Collins - Ranadive challenges readers not to see the landscape as “empty, forgiving” but instead to embrace the “Grace of Place”. In the spirit of “Grace of Place”, this dry forbidding valley is transformed. As she writes of the north shore of Lake Mead, the author describes it as “the Jurassic red-rock outcrop where dinosaurs once roamed, the vast stretch of sage where I’ve watched wild mustangs run free.” In Nature’s Calling Gail provides a combination of short stories and reflection activities geared towards helping the reader embrace the “Grace of Place” in whatever landscape they find themselves. Meet the Author: The first week of Stillpoint Reader’s Community provides an opportunity to meet the author for a lively in-person discussion of the inspiration and stories contained within Natures Calling, purchase copies of the book and have them signed.
