Paul Jacobs is the featured soloist in Once Upon a Castle, an organ concerto by Ann Arbor-based composer Michael Daugherty that takes inspira-tion from the Hearst Castle – itself the inspiration for the estate Xanadu in the film “Citizen Kane.” TSO musicians take the spotlight in Bartók’s highly-virtuosic Concerto for Orchestra.

SEPTEMBER 24, 2016Carl Topilow: A Space SpectacularCarl Topilow, a Toledo favorite, launches a show that is out of this world – and beyond. His program includes extraordi-nary videos supplied by the NASA Glenn Research Center in his hometown of Cleveland. The music selections include “Mars” and “Jupiter” from Gustav Hoist’s “The Planets,” “Duel of the Fates,” “The Imperial March,” and the Cantina Band sequence from John Williams’ music from the “Star Wars” films, and “Star Trek through the Ages” arranged by Calvin Custer.

OCTOBER 22, 2016Herman’s Hermits starring Peter NooneSing along to “Listen People,” “I’m Henry VIII, I Am,” “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter,” and more of the signa-ture songs by one of the top pop bands of the 1960s – still rockin’ and rollin’ today. Peter Noone continues to display the wit, charm, and musical attractiveness he did when those songs were new.

NOVEMBER 26, 2016Sandi Patty Farewell TourKnown simply as “The Voice,” Sandi is the most awarded female vocalist in con-temporary Christian music history. She will be performing many of her signature Christmas classics. This is a wonderful opportunity to get into the spirit of the holiday season.

FEBRUARY 11, 2017Yesterday Once More A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF THE CARPENTERS

From Grammy-nominated musician and producer Jim Brickman comes one of the most anticipated shows of the season. With breathtaking songs that began their life with Karen and Richard Carpenter, “Yesterday Once More” takes audiences back in time, recapturing the music an entire generation fell in love with, and fell in love to.“Yesterday Once More” is enhanced with behind-the-scenes stories of pop culture of the 1970s, along with lush arrangements by Jim Brickman of songs like “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” and “Close To You!”

MARCH 11, 2017Pat Benatar & Neil GiraldoTheirs is a rock ‘n’ roll love affair: four-time Grammy winner Pat Benatar, acknowledged as the leading female rock vocalist of the 1980s, and Neil Giraldo, a musician, producer, arranger, and song-writer, are a husband-wife team that re-mains an entertainment powerhouse that, for more than three decades, continues to thrill music lovers.

MAY 13, 2017Westwater Arts: Our National ParksIn this one-of-a-kind symphonic event, sweeping photographic vistas of America’s vast wilderness and awesome mountain ranges accompany stirring orchestral music in what multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay calls “symphonic photcho-reography.” The TSO will perform visual concertos of “National Park Suite” to mark the centennial of the National Park system and “Rodeo!” to provide an action-packed view of a rodeo as the contestants see it. It will be a rousing evening of stunning visuals and equally stunning music.
