2016 - 2017 Producers Brochure
Detroit’s Leading Not-For-Profit Cultural Center
“ I wanna be a Producer of a hit show on Broadway. . . I wanna be a Producer . . . eat at Sardi ’ s everyday. . . ” ~ Mel Brooks
A letter from our President & Artistic Director
2016 - 2017
We are asked all the time what is a Producer and what do they do for Music Hall?
Producers make it happen. In theatre as in life, producers are the entrepreneurs and innovators who lead the way. At Music Hall, the producers are the special group of supporters who dedicate time and financial support to our mission of presenting cutting edge, often avant-garde, diverse programming from around the world. We often work together, plan fundraising events together, and personally meet and welcome the artists that perform at Music Hall to Detroit. At the highest levels, we travel to New York and other cities together, looking for talent, and what is current in arts and culture worldwide, with the intention of bringing it home to Southeast Michigan. It is all of our jobs to take care of the cultural well-being of our community, and I hope you will consider joining our group of very cool people. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and... it’s important!

Our Mission
The historic Music Hall, through its presentations and productions (including commissions of original artistic work), provides Southeastern Michigan with high quality performing arts programs and education that reflect the diverse mix of cultures that make up our community. Music Hall is Detroit’s “People’s Theater” – the place for high quality but non-elitist performing arts and education with an emphasis on dance, theater and music, particularly Jazz. Music Hall aims to be the most accessible, inclusive and culturally diverse performing arts
institution in the country.
