Young. Inventive. Growing.

Home to more than 1.2 million Oklahomans and an average of 300

days of sunshine per year, Oklahoma City offers an abundance of

the arts, quality healthcare, excellence in education, and more. And it

does so without high costs, energy shortages, or traffic congestion. It

is a distinctly liveable city where you can chase your dreams and still

enjoy a rich quality of life.

Our campus sits in the heart of OKC in the historic and vibrant

Uptown District. Just a short drive, walk, or bike ride from campus

you can explore more than a dozen diverse neighborhoods

and entertainment districts featuring live music venues, local

restaurants, coffee shops, food trucks, farmers markets, art events

and cultural performances.

On any given night you may find yourself dining at one of the

local hotspots in Automobile Alley or Deep Deuce, enjoying

a festival in the Plaza District or Midtown, appreciating one

of the many art galleries in the Paseo Arts District, attending

a professional sporting event, catching a local or nationally-

touring show at the Civic Center Music Hall or the Lyric Theatre

of Oklahoma, playing laser tag in the Bricktown Entertainment

District, or taking a stroll by beautiful Lake Hefner.

Did you know that Oklahoma City is one of the top river sports destinations in the world?

Located just south of downtown, the Boathouse District, along

the Oklahoma River, is one of Oklahoma City’s top attractions for

adventure seekers. Oklahoma City University’s Devon Boathouse,

which is home to an Olympic training center, was the first to claim

a spot on the bank. Today, our rowers and kayakers are some of

the best in the world.

The value of an Oklahoma City University education goes well beyond classroom learning.

There is a broader education at work too—an education

that gives our students life-changing opportunities to

connect with the world around them. We believe an

important component of learning is doing. Oklahoma

City University is known for the remarkable speakers

and leaders we host on campus to engage and inspire

our students and our community.

These distinguished guests have included:

Actor Jason Alexander, best known for his role as George on the NBC sitcom “Seinfeld”, teaches a master class at the School of Theatre

- Robert, Junior, Acting

“ It was nice to hear exactly what our professors have been teaching us in our classes over the last few years echoed in a superstar who has been in the business for a long time.”

LEARNING FROM LEADERS

The Oklahoma City University experience

includes cultivating employment leadership skills

and opportunities. That’s why retired Devon

Energy President and CEO John Richels,

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, Sonic

Corporation CEO Cliff Hudson and others teach

about leadership at Oklahoma City University.

The prestige of our programs and our history is

enhanced by our larger education experience.

Wimberly School of Religion

SEMINARY PREPARATION

WHY OCU?

The Wimberly School of Religion offers religious and theological studies

in the United Methodist tradition that unite knowledge and vital piety

and explore questions of meaning and value. Our curriculum focuses on

basic studies of the faith, values, history, and sacred texts in both western

and eastern religious traditions. The aim of these studies is to develop an

understanding of religion and how it relates to various cultures and issues in

the modern world.

100% of recent grads have been

accepted to grad school or seminary,

including Wesley Theological Seminary

and Saint Paul School of Theology.

“Our students have an excellent

rate of acceptance into seminary and

graduate schools. Those who want

youth ministry jobs after college usually

have offers before graduation. The

We believe that a well-rounded education involves more than lectures.

Whether it’s attending a business conference, studying science in a

National Park, traveling abroad, or participating in a New York City

theatre showcase, there are plenty of opportunities to enhance your

education through offsite learning.

Learn outside the classroom.

FACULTY-LED STUDY TOURS

Studying abroad provides great opportunities to

enhance your college education while living in

another country. At Oklahoma City University, we

give you the opportunity to travel and study in

almost every country of the world.

Are you a performing arts major? There are

opportunities for you, too. Oklahoma City

University hosts numerous senior showcases on

campus throughout the year, as well as schedules

yearly auditions and performances in places like

New York City, Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Science students have the opportunity to pursue

undergraduate research and present their

findings at national meetings. Business students

can travel to compete in national competitions or

intern in Washington, D.C. There are options in

all majors for students to gain experience in their

fields while still undergraduates.

Faculty-led study tours usually consist of a

short trip (two to five weeks) during which the

OCU faculty will teach an intensive class. These

programs frequently occur on the campuses of

universities abroad, which allows students the

opportunity to live in student housing owned by

the host institution and take a second class taught

by a professor of that host university.

Investing in a quality education prepares you for a lifetime of success.

There is an immense value to the Oklahoma City University network

of students, faculty, and alumni long after your undergraduate

experience. While here, you’ll benefit from generous support that

includes more than $34 million in academic merit and talent-based

scholarships. We will work with you and your family to design a

financial aid package that meets your needs.

An investment with lifelong value

The alumni association is an immense network of professional

contacts—all with whom you will already have one thing

in common. Need to get a foot in the door for your first

professional job, or curious if an organization that’s pursuing

you is the right fit? The alumni association can connect

you with people who are great resources for informational

interviews or introductions. After graduation, you are

encouraged to attend our many alumni events.

A LIFETIME OF SUPPORT

OCU is very “connected” and so supportive of your after-

college experience. All my professors asked where I

was trying to go and were willing to help me get there.

My advisors helped me navigate through internship

opportunities and members of administration always knew

someone to suggest in the community.”

Merit and departmental awards range from $3,000

to full tuition and performance scholarships

are awarded based on music, dance and arts

management, and theatre auditions. Other

scholarships are awarded based on athletics and

leadership. In addition, you may receive grants,

loans, and part-time campus employment.

At Oklahoma City University, your application for

admission is also your application for merit and

departmental scholarships. When completing your

application for admission, indicate the types of

scholarships for which you would like to be considered.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT

GREEK LIFE

RELIGIOUS LIFE

THE POWER TO CREATE

Student senators have an impact on everything

from what is served in the cafeteria to green

initiatives that will take part across the university.

On our Student Activities Committee, you get to

bring the fun to the university: mud volleyball,

free movie night, and Relay for Life are all events

started by OCU students.

Our Greek community is an important and

dynamic part of the university experience. Greeks

are often campus leaders and members of other

Oklahoma City University organizations. Greeks

also excel in the classroom; in fact the all-Greek

GPA has consistently been higher than the all-

University GPA.

Oklahoma City University offers rich opportunities

for students to practice and strengthen their faith

through a range of student organizations, weekly

worship services, monthly missions activities,

Bible studies, and mission trips.

Maybe the biggest privilege that you will have at

Oklahoma City University is the power to create

your own club or organization. No matter what

your passion is, drum up enough support and you

could be the president of the newest organization

on campus.

Some people call it a dorm. Some people call it a residence hall. Our hope is that you will call it home.

We offer numerous options for on-campus living, including

traditional dormitory style residences, apartments, and fraternity

housing. Each housing community provides a comfortable living

and learning environment where you can find private time as well

as numerous opportunities to get connected to campus activities.

Living in university housing puts you in the hub of campus life and

a short walk from classes, events, and the cafeteria.

FRESHMEN

STAY CONNECTED

Safety escorts are available to the campus community around

the clock. Additionally, students can call the OCUPD if they

need a battery jumpstart, lock their keys inside their

vehicle, or need help changing a flat tire.

All residence halls feature laundry facilities, game rooms, big-

screen televisions, ID card entry systems, and maybe even your

new best friend.

If you’re under 21 and not living with an adult guardian,

you must live on campus. Most freshmen are housed in Walker

or Banning Hall. The seven-story Walker Hall accommodates

approximately 245 students, with each room housing two

to three people with five sharing a bathroom. Banning Hall

supports suite-style living with two rooms (two students per

room) sharing one bath.

Oklahoma City University is a completely wireless campus, enabling

you to access the web in every classroom, residence hall, university

apartment, and campus lounge.

on campus. Floor plans include one, two, and

four-bedroom options. Apartments in Cokesbury

Court come fully furnished and are ready to move

WHAT’S FOR DINNER?

Many new challenges are faced during your first

year in college. The First-Year Experience (FYE)

program is designed to give you the skills to be

successful in an academic community both inside

and outside the classroom.

Intramural Sports and Recreation programs

promote a healthy lifestyle for the campus

community. Competitive or laid back, there is

a sport for you. The Aduddell Fitness Center

features state-of-the-art treadmills, elliptical

machines, and stationary bikes as well as machine

and free weights. The Henry J. Freede Wellness

Center offers open gym time throughout the year.

Good food and friends are always on the menu at

the cafeteria. “The Caf” offers a variety of dishes,

sides, and desserts, and even includes a vegan

station. If you’re looking for something to go, look

no further than Alvin’s Cafe, where you can find an

assortment of deli sandwiches on freshly baked

breads, salads, pastries, desserts, snacks, and

Starbucks coffee.
