As we begin 2017, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and can only attribute the abundance of blessings to our heavenly Father and to St. John Paul II. I am just embarking on my first year as Principal, after serving as Assistant Principal for over six years, and it has become more evident than ever how generous our families and our greater community are, and how much love is poured out over this campus. We have an amazing faculty and staff, a first class campus that is not only beautiful but filled with the happy sounds of learning, and students who smile and work hard every day to achieve great things.

We are also blessed with gifts from people like you – our parents, teachers, administrative staff, grandparents and friends – who have chosen to support our ministry here at StJPII with donations of all kinds, which help to fulfill our mission. In fact, last school year you donated more than ever before: over $462,000!

St. John Paul II was started by laity, a group of ordinary people, parents and friends who desired to have a great Catholic school. They set goals and worked hard to build a place that is now embarking on its 30th anniversary next year. Over the past 30 years, we have achieved remarkable things including recognition as a National Blue Ribbon school two times, championships in all sports, sweepstakes honors in band, art awards that are too numerous to name, a robotics team competing at LEGOLAND, and earning a record breaking 22 academic scholarships to our local Catholic high schools last school year. This is evidence that our formation results in graduates who are well prepared for higher education.

St. John Paul II Catholic School owes its existence to the dedication, love, and prayers of many people. And because of faithful families and friends like you, we will continue our ministry at StJPII for 30 more years and beyond, providing excellence in education and ensuring that we are accessible to those who desire an exceptional Catholic education.

As we continue our journey throughout this school year, I encourage you and your family to continue to pray for our special school and our mission we live out daily. This year, we are focusing on Forming Families of Disciples and I pray that together we see the goodness in all God’s wonder in order to follow Him in all that we do!

Duke University Talent Identification Program

Sixty-four percent of the 2015 - 2016 seventh grade

class qualified to participate in the Duke University Talent

Identification Program. Twenty-two students tested and

eight seventh graders qualified for State Recognition.

RUN WITH THE SAINTS & ONLINE AUCTION

RUN WITH THE SAINTS

On October 31, 2015, StJPII sponsored our

17th Annual Run with the Saints 5K and Kids K

in memory of Lauren Lockard, a former student

who lost her brave battle to brain cancer in

1999. In spite of the rain, almost 1,000 people

registered and the event raised over $9,200 for

the Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation. Since the race's inception, Run with the Saints

has raised over $60,000 for brain cancer research and StJPII's athletic program.

ONLINE AUCTION

In the Winter of 2016, StJPII held its first ever Online Auction!

Bidding took place over the course of a week exclusively on parents'

mobile phones. StJPII auctioned off traditional school packages such

as #1 Spot in Carpool, Principal for the Day and Name the Field. It

was a wonderful success and brought in $20,000! Thanks to the

families who participated!

PAVER PROGRAM

The StJPII PTO sponsors a garden paver program and we invite you to become a part

of our legacy in this special way. A paver is a lasting tribute that can honor members

of your family, commemorate a special event, or honor a coach or teacher. The paver

pathway circles the Pope Garden in the heart of our campus.

2015-2016 ANNUAL FUND DONORS

The mission of St. John Paul II Catholic School is to prepare all students spiritually and academically to succeed in life and to do God’s will - our Annual Fund Drive is the vehicle that makes our mission possible. In order to offer an outstanding Catholic education at an affordable price, we rely on donations. Tuition alone does not cover all of the expenses for quality programs and teachers that make our StJPII community so special. The Annual Fund has been established as a voluntary means of giving in order to maintain the tax-deductibility of all contributions. It is part of the yearly budget of St. John Paul II. $462,600 was contributed to the 2015-2016 Annual Fund Drive.

The Board of Directors at St. John Paul II Catholic School is committed to keeping tuition affordable so that an excellent Catholic education might be available to as many children as possible. Therefore, when new facilities or educational improvements are needed, families and friends are asked to contribute to the cost of the project, not

necessarily with equal gifts, but with equal sacrifice for the benefit of the whole community.

2010 “A Time To Build” Capital CampaignA Time To Build was launched in 2010 with the goal of raising $3.75 million in order to provide funding for a multi-purpose student center with a cafeteria and dedicated stage and performing arts area, locker room facilities in the gym, a chapel, additional office space and storage, a new art room, and a covered walkway, along with upgraded technology and an increased endowment. Approximately $2.8 million has been committed to this campaign. Contributions that were received during the past fiscal year are gratefully acknowledged below.
