UP NEXT – Following the Mountain West Championships, USU will head to Albuquer-que, N.M. for the fifth time this indoor season to compete in the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships, Friday through Saturday, Mar. 14-15.

FRESH START – Utah State is competing in its first season in the Mountain West follow-ing eight seasons in the Western Athletic Conference. During their time in the WAC, the Aggie men collected a total of seven indoor and outdoor track and field con-ference championships, while their female counterparts garnered two.

RECORDS BROKEN – Six school records have been broken during the indoor season. Junior Chari Hawkins is responsible for half of the new top-marks, setting school-bests in the 60m hurdles (8.40), high jump (1.83m) and pentathlon (3,965 points). AGGIES TO WATCH FORNIC BOWENS (Jr.) – Bowens enters the Mountain West Champion-ships after setting school records in the 60m and 200m dashes at the New Mexico hosted Don Kirby Elite Collegiate Invitational, Feb. 14-15 in Albquerque, N.M, Bowens’ times of 6.68 (60m) and 21.11 (200m) both rank as the fastest times in the conference as well as 27th and 30th in the nation, respectively. The Meridian, Idaho native won the 60m and 200m races at the Boise State hosted Jacksons Invitational (Jan. 24-25) and Bronco Invitational (Feb. 8).

BRITON PAGE (So.) – Page finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:51.29 in the 800m at the New Mexico hosted Lobo Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. on Jan. 18. Hailing from Center-ville, Utah, Page ranks third in the Mountain West and 89th in the nation this season. Page also placed third in the 800m on Feb. 1 at the New Mexico Team Invitational with a time of 1:51.54.

BRYCE HALL (Sr.) – Hall placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 18.36m (60-03.00) at the Boise State hosted Bronco In-vitational. on Feb. 8. The Kaysville, Utah native also recorded a distance of 16.94m (55-07.00) in the shot put at the New Mexico Team Invitational on Feb. 1.

COLE LAMBOURNE (So.) – Lambourne holds the conference’s best 400m time this season after placing second at the Boise State host-ed Jacksons Invitational on Jan. 25 with a time of 47.53. The River-ton, Utah native also ranks fifth in the Mountain West in the 200m after finishing ninth at the Boise state hosted Bronco Invitational on Feb. 8 with a time of 21.62.

ERIC SHELLHORN (Jr.) – Shellhorn finished the mile at the New Mexico hosted Don Kirby Elite Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 15 in 4:08.81 to place fifth. The time ranks as the eighth-fastest mile in school-history. The Montrose, Colo. native also finished fifth in the 800m at the New Mexico hosted Lobo Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 18 with a time of 1:53.33.

CHARI HAWKINS (Jr.) – Hawkins has broken three school records during the indoor season. The junior scored 3,965 points in the pen-tathlon to set a new top-mark and place third at the New Mexico hosted Cherry & Silver Invitational on Jan. 24. She followed that up with a high jump of 1.83m (6-00.00) to take the title and break the USU record at the New Mexico Team Invitational on Feb. 1. The Rexburg, Idaho native broke the school record and won the 60m hurdles at the New Mexico Hosted Don Kirby Elite Collegiate Invita-tional on Feb. 15 with a time of 8.40. Hawkins’ high jump and pen-tathlon marks are the best in the conference and her 60m hurdles performance ranks second in the Mountain West. Additionally, Hawkins also ranks sixth in the conference in the long jump with a leap of 5.90m (19-04.25) on Feb. 14 at the Don Kirby Elite Col-legaite Invitational. Hawkins was named the Co-Mountain West Track & Field Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 21-27.

KEELEY ELDREDGE (Sr.) – Eldredge set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 19.14m (62-09.50) at the New Mexico hosted Don Kirby Elite Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 14. The dis-tance ranks seventh in the Mountain West this season. The Sandy, Utah native broke her own record of 18.38m (60-03.75) set earlier this season at the New Mexico Team Invitational on Feb. 1.

RACHEL ORR (Jr.) – Orr placed second in the high jump at the Boise State hosted Jacksons Invitational on Jan. 25 with a leap of 1.75m (5-08.75). Hailing from Thatcher, Ariz., Orr won the high jump at the Boise State hosted bronco Invitational on Feb. 8 with a height of 1.70m (5-07.00).

ALEX LITZSINGER (Sr.) – Litzsinger finished the 5,000m with a time of 17:20.33 at the Washington hosted Husky Classic on Feb. 14 to fin-ish 36th. The time puts the Pocatello, Idaho native at fourth in the conference this season.

CIERRA SIMMONS (Fr.) – Simmons finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:59.31at the New Mexico Team Invitational on Jan. 24. The Soda Springs, Idaho native’s time ranks fifth in the conference and is the only sub-five minute mile for the Aggies this season.
