The daffodils are in full bloom at The Ringland SmeltzerHouse at the corner of Second Avenue South and South12th Street in Fort Dodge. Many of the trees and other flowers were blooming there as well. The many flowers and trees at the historic home always make for a colorful spring.

Fort Dodge Police Sgt. Chuck Guthrie goes down firing andfighting during an active shooter drill at St. Edmond CatholicSchool. During the training scenario, which involved schoolstaff as well, Guthrie portrayed an officer shot while trying toapprehend the shooter whose looming shadow is at left. Thespecial blank firing guns used eject their fire and smoke upwards for safety.

The Bohemion Hall, located a few miles of FortDodge, erupted in flames and burned to theground. Several fire departments fought theblaze through most of the night. The remains ofthe historic building were torn down.
