The California Youth Symphony’s 62nd season will bring to local audiences a variety of outstanding music played by some of the Bay Area’s most talented young performers. We’ll feature American composers such as Gershwin, Bernstein and Copland, along with European masters like Dvorák and Ravel. Adding excitement to the season will be the anticipation of the Orchestra’s 2014 summer tour to Prague and the Adriatic coast. Join us this season and learn why critics have described CYS as “among the best of the world’s youth orchestras” and its performances as “semi-miraculous.”

The organization has earned a worldwide reputation for excellence and innovation, including being the first youth orchestra ever to tour overseas, winning prizes at international competitions and helping to initiate and organize numerous collaborations here in the Bay Area involving both local and international ensembles. Our Music Director, Leo Eylar, is beginning his 24th year with CYS. In addition to being an outstanding conductor, Eylar is also a composer of international renown and a highly respected educator—professor of music at California State University, Sacramento.
