    Letter from the Co-Presidents

    We would like to inform the Southgate Schoolcommunity that effective January 31, 2012, we

    tenured our resignation as Co-Presidents of the

    PTA. We have been working closely with the

    PTA Vice Presidents, Lori Genito and Carrie

    DeGroff, to ensure there is no disruption of any of

    the PTA sponsored events scheduled throughout

    the remainder of the current school year. We do

    plan to continue our participation and assistance in

    the Southgate PTA in a volunteer role.

    Our personal thanks goes out to the PTA

    Executive Board, Jerri Lynne Dedrick, teachers,

    staff, and all you for the support you have shown us.

    National Green Week

    February 6-10 is National Green Week. Thestudents to participate in a Go Green PosterContest to raise awareness about the

    importance of reducing, reusing andrecycling!

    All posters are due by Thursday,February 9th

    Students will design their poster around oneof the following themes:

    New York Recycles!

    Composting....Don't JustLeaf it Up to Nature! Return Deposit Cans &

    Bottles: It Makes Cents!

    Recycling on the GO!

    Recycle at School! It's a

    During National Green Weekstudents areencouraged to bring in waste-free snacks,lunch and drinks in reusable snack and drinkcontainers. Please remember that all Frito-Lay chip bags are considered recyclable atour school. The Go Green Team alsocontinues to collect empty tape dispensersand cores, glue sticks, inkjets, laser tonercartridges, cell phones, PDAs and iPods forrecycling. Money received from all recyclingefforts goes directly to the PTA to supportPTA programming. Recycling bins for theseitems are located in the school cafeteria.
