How to Beautify Your RV Bath

One of the best things about RV travel is that you go everywhere with your own bathroom—even if it is smaller and in need of different care than the one at home. Here are a few ways to help you better organize, maintain, and beautify your RV bath.

Storage Tips and Tricks

A wall-mounted hair dryer is convenient and saves space. RV suppliers carry 12-volt models. If you have wall space, hang magazine racks: they’re good for holding bathroom reading or even a bathroom scale.

A spring-loaded shower rod costs little, and you can put it up and take it down in the shower stall as needed to double your drying space for hand-washed laundry or swim suits. A retractable line in the shower stall further increases the space available for drying lightweight delicates. RV’s rarely have enough towel racks, so damp towels often get crammed together, dry slowly, and get musty. Add more racks, either by ordering matching hardware from the RV manufacturer or by purchasing an entirely new set—perhaps one that’s more your style—from a home-improvement store.

Page 8: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

It’s a nuisance to repeatedly secure loose items on bathroom counters before moving. Get a hang-up toiletry kit for each family member. Not only are these kits easy to stow in a cupboard or drawer, they also save space and keep everyone organized. And they’re handy at a campground: just grab them and go to the shower or gym.

Maintenance Musts

If the RV designer didn’t provide a clothes hamper, decide on a place to keep dirty clothes, and ensure that it has plenty of ventilation.

Steam and odors build up quickly in small baths. Most RV bathrooms have an overhead vent to help prevent this. If yours isn’t powered, upgrade to a solar-powered or 12-volt-electrial fan. These come in standard sizes that fit easily into existing vent holes. If your RV bath has a household-style exhaust fan, and family members forget to turn it on before showering, consider having it wired into the light switch so both go on together. Bathroom still too stuffy? Home-improvement stores sell louvered vents in many sizes and styles. Install one low in the door. Without loss of privacy, it draws in fresh air that goes out through your vents. Toiletry racks that slip over the showerhead are good space-savers at home but not in the RV. A heavy load on the showerhead could damage plumbing, and, when the rack moves with vehicle motion, it scars the wall. Buy bath cleaning supplies from RV stores or marine suppliers. Household chemicals could damage fiberglass surfaces or plastic plumbing. Read manufacture instructions for care of other surfaces such as marble or Corian®. Note that some RV bathroom mirrors are actually made of plastic, not glass. Don’t use abrasive cleaners on them. Maintenance and cleanliness go hand in hand. To prevent sanitation-system odors from permeating your RV bath, replace seals or hoses at once if they dry out or crack. If guests use your RV bathroom, make sure they understand how to operate the toilet. Nothing should be put in it but human waste and quick-dissolving toilet paper. Flushing other things could lead to costly plumbing repairs. Plus chemicals, prescription medications, and the like that you might be tempted to flush can harm a campground’s septic system.

Creature Comfort Considerations

If you have a choice of bathroom colors when ordering a new RV, choose white. This way, you can add visual impact with soft goods and linens in any color you like, and it’s a snap to change the color scheme when you tire of it.

You can use soft goods not only to add pops of color but also to make your bathroom quieter and more comfortable. Opt for fabric shower curtains rather than plastic ones and curtains rather than blinds. Keep things plush with a fluffy lid cover and throw rug and a thick, rubbery, non-slip tub or shower mat. Many home improvement stores now sell curved shower rods. These will make your shower feel more spacious. Instead of a water-saving showerhead that delivers a mere mist, look into Oxygenics® technology. The company’s showerheads and wands take in air that mixes with the water, providing a powerful stream that still conserves water.

Page 9: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

If your hair isn’t behaving even though you’re using the same shampoo and conditioner each time, it’s probably because the water is varying from campground to campground. Install a showerhead with a built-in filter. Rand McNally®, the Rand McNally logo and Best of the Road® are registered trademarks of RM Acquisition, LLC d/b/a Rand McNally. Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System Review August 8, 2012 By Naomi

Installing an Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System is a quick and easy way to spruce up your shower! The days seem to keep getting too long with too much to do in our new house, but with many easy things that can be done in the bathroom to make a big impact – I was excited to tackle the master bath.

Eventually, we are planning to change out the sink faucet, the light fixture, and the towel bars along with new paint and a new shower head – the room should be looking like a whole new place in no time!

If you are looking for a way to update your bath, do NOT be afraid of changing out the shower head, it is EASY. Oxygenics provided this really cool shower head for me to try out. It has one stationary head and one that can come off as a handled shower head. At the top of the fixture, you can turn off and on either of the heads so you don’t have to have both going at the same time and both of the heads have their own massage settings.

Page 11: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

Installing the Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System

To install, you just take off the old shower head (I used an adjustable wrench), run the water for a few seconds to clean out whatever might be in there. Our old shower head was cool looking, but when you turned it on – water went all over the place, out of maybe 3 of the holes in the actual head, around the edges, out the back, ah!

Then you use the Teflon tape (some was provided with the new shower head), wrap it around the exposed end where the shower head was. Then screw on the new shower head. DONE. I think this project took me about 10 minutes tops, and I feel like it is a whole new shower (and it looks cleaner too). If you are looking for a quick way to update your bathroom OR a way to save some money on bills, a new shower head from Oxygenics might just be a solution. Many of the shower heads from Oxygenics are water saving, have MANY different massage positions, and have updated finishes. Visit Oxygenics.com to find out what shower head might be a good fit for your home.

Easy RV Mod -> Oxygenics Shower Head Posted on July 20, 2012

I’ve always got about 20 blog post ideas knocking around in my head, but don’t always get around to all of them (too many posts, not enough time?). One of my long-term ideas is to do a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) or so ”easy RV mod” post. The idea behind this series is to highlight super-easy, inexpensive and hopefully super-useful RV mods which anyone can do. My other idea is to make this an interactive series too, one where I invite readers to send in their own mods to highlight in future posts. After marinating on this idea for a while I’ve decided to kick it into action and we’ll see where it goes. So….here it goes….

Oh showerhead, let me count the ways I love thee…. One of the best all-around easy mods we’ve done to our RV in the past year is to switch out our factory-installed shower head with an Oxygenics head. Now, I’m usually not one to gush about showers, and even though I’d seen the mod on RV forums (with super-rave reviews) I resisted it for a long time. I mean how much real difference does a showerhead actually make? Well this winter we finally relented and I have to admit I absolutely LOVE this thing.

Oxygenics uses a cool technology that accelerates and injects oxygen into the water flow which does two totally awesome things -> it increases water pressure while decreasing water usage. What this means in practical terms in the RV is that you get a more powerful shower, especially

Page 16: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

in low-pressure areas (e.g. low-pressure water supply or while using the RV water pump) PLUS you get to take longer showers for the same amount of water (excellent for boondocking!). Even though our shower came with a pretty decent head we immediately noticed the difference and have been totally hooked since we installed it.

Here’s how we put it all together:

The Body Spa showerhead. I installed our new shut-off valve at the base of the head.

1/The Shower Head: We bought the Body Spa Oxygenics ”kit” from Amazon since this was the best deal on the net when we looked ($26.21 with free Prime shipping at the time). The hose and fittings that come in the “kit” are horrible (really poor quality plastic) so we just used the head and tossed the rest. The head fit directly into our existing hose and holder so all we had to do was screw it on and go.

Shut-Off valve

2/ Shut-Off Valve: When we’re boondocking we take “navy showers” and like having an easy shut-off for the shower. I did not like the included on-off valve that came with the shower head

Page 17: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

kit (it’s a collar on the bottom of the showerhead that you turn which I found waaaay too fiddly in the shower) so we got rid of it and installed a cheap (~$5) thumb-operated shut-off valve from Home Depot. Much faster and nicer system to use.

The final result? A great shower that feels exactly like the one we used to get in our “fancy” bathroom at our old stix house, even while boondocking. Plus hot water and water tanks that last a much longer time. The head is heavier than our old one so we make a point of taking it off the holder and placing it on the shower floor when travelling, but other than that we’ve made no other changes. Awesome mod for a pretty awesome price…I recommend it

Got a cool RV mod of your own? Feel free to e-mail me with photos and details and I’ll highlight on the blog in a future post. Full credit will be yours!

July 19, 2012 Oxygenics PowerMassage Handheld Shower Head Review

When real estate developer Ray Engle searched for home fixtures that conserved resources, he couldn’t find any. He decided to start a company that specialized in water and energy conservation products; he called it Energy Technology Laboratories.

Energy Technology Laboratories has received several awards for their innovated designs including US Bureau of Reclamation Water Conservation & Education Mentor Award in 1995.

One of Energy Technology Laboratories products is the Oxygenics shower head. For my review, I received the Oxygenics PowerMassage Handheld Shower Head. Oxygenics is eco-friendly and budget friendly; it uses 20-70% less water, saving thousands of

gallons each year. Oxygenics combines an increase in water velocity and air induction to create more pressure. This gives users with all different levels of water pressure the same relaxing massage.

The PowerMassage Handheld Shower Head offers users 5 different spray options. Switching between sprays is easy (even with wet soap hands) you simply rotate the Intellever Switch until you find your desired spray pattern.

We LOVE our new shower head. After spending the day with a house full of kids, I want nothing more than to relax in a massaging shower; the PowerMassage Shower head is heavenly!

My Husband was impressed with the quality of the Oxygenics PowerMassage Handheld Shower Head. Not only was it easy-peasy to install but it is also made with high quality parts. Interior parts made with Delrin (similar to Teflon) ensure that our new

shower head won’t clog; they are so confident that they offer an Oxygenics PowerMassage lifetime performance warranty. Oxygenics is on facebook and twitter.

Eco- Flow Shower Heads July 16, 2012

One of the best ways to conserve water that

many people forget or are hesitant to try is in the

bathroom. Low flow shower heads are a great

way to be eco-friendly everyday within your

daily routine.

On average a typical shower goes through 5

gallons of water per minute. Companies like

Waterpik and Oxygenics specialize in low flow

shower heads that use only 2 gallons of water

per minute. Though still using a large amount of

water, using these eco-flow alternatives can help.

Still looking to go that extra step? Be conscience of the time you spend in the shower. Try not to

linger, get in and get out. Another option is to military shower, which consists of turning off the

water when it is not needed – shampooing hair, shaving, etc. Each of these smalls steps can add

up to big savings for both the environment and your household costs.

Shower Envy: Oxygenics Showerhead Review Here in my house, we are going on Day 3 of no hot water! It’s been a little rough. We’ve been boiling water to wash our dishes, washing our clothes on cold and taking tepid baths (using water heated from the stove!). The worst part has been not getting to enjoy my fabulous new Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System!

As you can see in the photo above, it has two shower heads! There is a stationary head and a handheld head with a 60 inch hose. Each shower head has five different massage settings. You

Page 22: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

can use either shower head or both at the same time, making it perfect for all of your showering needs.

Sometimes my shower is the only alone time I get- so I really look forward to a few minutes to myself to think and get clean. Most of the time, I have a tiny shower invader who climbs in with me. Either way this shower system is perfect. When I am alone, I get to take full advantage of all the massage settings and relax! When Elodie is in there, I can turn on both shower heads and have enough water to keep us both comfortable at the same time!

So now let me break down all of the awesome features for you!

Easy Installation:

It only took my handyman (my husband, Dane) a few minutes to install. It was really easy and the only issue he had was that when he over tightened the hose, it cracked the plastic, so it works fine but has a little crack in the otherwise great appearance. So don’t over-tighten it!

Also, the shower head comes with teflon tape (which you definitely want to use- my husband used plenty and we have had absolutely no leaking problems!) but it is kind of hidden away in the manual. My husband used our own but then found the provided teflon tape.

Page 23: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

The convenience:

Now that we have a handheld shower head, I’m never going back. As a mom- this is a must have! It makes cleaning my daughter and my shower so much easier. It is also works out so perfectly with my butt bench for rinsing off our feet from the beach!

The handheld shower head is much higher up than the shower mount is, which makes it nice and roomy for me and my husband (we’re very short) but it would be a great feature for anyone who is too tall for their current shower head.

The luxury:

Our other shower head was a very low flow, but now even with both shower heads on their is a nice amount of water pressure. It makes it feel so much more like a spa and makes our showers more luxurious.

The massage functions are really nice, and there are over 35 different pressurized combinations possible, but we pretty much have our favorite settings which we leave them on all the time.

Eco-friendly:

Another nice feature is that the shower head is actually water saving, so it will save you money on your water bill and it is gentler on the environment!

We absolutely love this shower head system, and I love the quality and selection that Oxygenics has to offer. I seriously cannot wait for the plumbers to come tomorrow morning- first thing I’m doing when they leave is getting a nice long shower to make up for the lost time. :)

Oxygenics Shower Head Review July 13, 2012

I’ve probably written before that we live in an older home in Florida and it’s a little out of date. We’ve been here for almost 6 years and still have a few major projects left to do. The main project that we keep putting off (mostly because it’s so expensive) is the bathrooms. Think 1985 Florida – coral tile flooring, green cabinet, beige rusted out tub…oh yeah, it’s pretty (not)!

We’ve given it a fresh coat of paint and new accessories to give it a more modern look but we still have the plain, builder-grade shower head. Thankfully this is in the guest bathroom and the only people who use the shower are my parents every few months when they visit. This is also the kids bathroom but they normally shower in our room. The current shower head is certainly not an eco-friendly model.

I decided to give it a little bit of an update in an effort to move the kids to their own bathroom (and out of ours). I received an Oxygenics Power Massage handheld shower head a few months ago but have been hesitant to install it. I am NOT very handy with plumbing and have never attempted to change a shower head myself. My husband just updated the master baths shower head in January but I didn’t see how he did it. This past week I decided it was time to put on my plumber jeans and get the Oxygenics installed!

Page 25: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

Wow, that was actually so much easier than I anticipated! It only took me 5 minutes from start to finish and I didn’t even call the hubby for help. It didn’t even leak when I turned the water on (as I pat my back).

Next test was to see if the kids liked it – score! I think I may finally have my bathroom back now that they have a fun new handheld shower head with lots fun sprays (5 to be exact).

The Oxygenic uses anywhere from 20-70% less water than the standard shower heads. Using less water will reduce your energy bill and save you money. It will also save thousands of gallons of water each year. It’s incredibly light-weight (only 2lbs) which makes it perfect for your kids. With a lifetime guarantee the Oxygenics is the perfect shower head for the eco-minded consumer (or for those who want to save money).

Now, I wonder how many times I’m going to have to clean up the bathroom floor after my kids use the shower?

Oxygenics 5 Function PowerMassage Showerhead Review and Giveaway #WIN

A couple years ago my husband and I built our home. We did all the labor ourselves so we were able to cut costs which allowed us to splurge on other things. One of those things was our bathrooms. I was pregnant during the entire building process so I was really enticed with a quality shower head so that I could relax. We chose name brand products and I was in heaven each time I took a shower. However, I didn't know exactly what I was missing until I got the wonderful opportunity to review Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System. The Oxygenics Shower System is a double shower head system with a wall mount and hand shower. It offers 35 pressurized spray combinations with 5 different sprays. It also has the option to turn on one or the other shower heads as well as both at the same time. Oxygenics Shower System comes with a no clog guarantee, lifetime warranty, wide coverage spray and is easy to install. About Oxygenics: Oxygenics has been a pioneer in showerhead technology for the last 30 years, patenting a unique self-pressurizing and oxygenating system that delivers a luxurious shower experience without wasting water. Over three decades, the company has refined the process of delivering a full, rich and soothing shower stream that delivers superior cleansing, skin care and relaxation no matter the water pressure. The Oxygenics shower technology and design:

• Works like a waterfall, drawing in water and mixing it with air. This purifies the water and combats free radicals;

• Deep cleans pores, exfoliates skin, and becasue of the unique patterened water droplets, more throughly washes away soap products than other shower heads;

Page 27: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

• Stimulates collagen production and increases skin vibrancy, yielding significant anti-aging benefits;

• Works efficiently, producing a phenomenal shower in less time using fewer resources. Oxygenics has been recognized as a leader in water efficiency, having won an EPA Award for Environmental Excellence.

My Thoughts: Honestly, prior to this review I had never heard of Oxygenics and all the wonderful benefits their shower heads provide. It all sounded too good to be true until I tried it for myself. I am more than a believer now! When the PowerMassage shower head arrived in the mail it looked nice but intimidating nonetheless. Then again, I am not one for installing things myself. My husband was completely beside himself expressing that it was probably one of the best reviews we have gotten. He immediately hooked it up and much to my surprise he said it was very easy to install.

I got to experience it first and all I can say is WOW! I loved that there were two heads and one had an extension arm. I really like the extension arm because it is much easier to bathe toddlers as well as pull down and clean the shower. My husband described the new shower head as being just like a car wash and our six year old anxiously raved that it had lots of "horse power". Knowing that Oxygenics is environmentally conscious makes me love the company even more. Shower time is my few minutes away from the world to unwind. Knowing that I can take a slightly longer shower without using a ton of unnecessary water is a big plus for me as well.

WIN,WIN,WIN Oxygenics is giving one lucky reader a PowerMassage Shower System!

Oxygenics Shower Head Review by holly on July 6, 2012

Oxygenics, a leader in water efficiency, offers a model that offers a luxurious shower experience while still conserving water. The Oxygenics PowerMassage Shower System features 35 pressurized spray combinations with it’s dual shower heads. One stays fixed while the other one, attached to a 60″ hose can be handheld or cradled in it’s holder. The system works like a waterfall, mixing air with water which purifies it and helps combat free radicals. Your shower head will never clog, despite hard water because the internal components are made from non-stick Delrin. You’ll get a shower that throughly washes away soap, stimulates collagen production, deep cleans pores and more with the Oxygenics PowerMassage System and it’s 5 different spray settings. Choose from flood spray, Oxygenics spray, massage spray, rain spray and stream spray. The Oxygenics PowerMassage System retails for around $50.

Water Savings, Pressure Technology Make Oxygenics the Showerhead Choice for RVers

RENO, Nev. - RVs are the ultimate test of a good showerhead. With limited water tanks and reduced pressure, a showerhead's performance cannot hide behind an unlimited, high-flow municipal water supply.

Oxygenics' BodySpa® showerhead has been passing the test with RV owners for years - delivering the type of cleansing, massaging showers that travelers expect at home, while conserving the RV's limited water capacity.

Oxygenics designed three features of their showerhead specifically with the RV owner in mind:

• Installation in Seconds: Changing out an old RV showerhead and replacing it with the Oxygenics Body Spa Skin Care is nearly as simple as screwing in a new light bulb. A couple turns of a crescent wrench, a single piece of Teflon tape, and a couple seconds of hand tightening will complete the job.

Page 37: 2012 Oxygenics Media Placements

• Water Savings: The Oxygenics oxygenating showerhead increases the oxygen content of the shower stream by up to 10 times. This saves water and energy by up to 70 percent compared to other showerheads, and delivers a soft and cleansing shower experience. A flow control valve allows the bather to regulate the strength of the water stream during the shower, pumping it up to full power when washing off, or lessening the flow while soaping. The water savings are critical for RVers who enjoy traveling off the beaten path (where water supply is not available) or don't want the hassle of repeated stops to re-fill their water tank.

• Water Pressure: RVers buy a recreational vehicle because they want the comforts of home while they are on the road. A strong, relaxing shower is critical to that experience, but RV plumbing systems cannot typically handle the high water pressure needed to make that a reality. Oxygenics' self-pressurizing showerheads increase the strength of the shower stream within the showerhead without stressing the RV's plumbing. The company's patented technology puts out a shower experience that feels like home even when you are on the road.

About Oxygenics In the late 1970s, Oxygenics Founder Ray Engel developed the shower technology that would become the foundation of Oxygenics' success. Since then, Oxygenics has refined their showerhead offerings for the RV, home, hotel and university markets, delivering a comprehensive array of showerhead designs and features. Each Oxygenics purchase comes with a lifetime "Never Clogs" guarantee. The Oxygenics showerheads are available at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Amazon.com and The Sharper Image and are used by some of the largest hotel operators in the world, including Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton and many more. Oxygenics shower head review and giveaway May 29, 2012 By Lori 6 Comments

When I was told I would have the opportunity to review a shower head this is NOT what I expected!

This Oxygenics shower head is FANTASTIC! I was so excited waiting for my husband to get home so he could install it in our bathroom. I couldn’t wait to turn the water on for the first time and check it out. This shower head is AWESOME especially when it comes to giving my kids and the dog a bath This shower head is priced at $50 at Bed Bath and Beyond. Click here to visit their site and watch the demo video. You can also visit the Oxygenics Facebook page and enter to win $50

a day until June 9th! The Oxygenics® PowerMassage® Shower System utilizes two 5 function shower heads – one is wall mounted while the other is a hand held 5 function shower head with 60″ hose. Through the use of a 3-way diverter, the shower system offers 35 pressurized spray combinations. Functions offer everything from a wide body spray to a pulsating massage spray, and the patented 3 fin accelerator creates a spinning effect which enables the water to create a luxurious high pressure shower. All internal components are made from Delrin® which means that the shower heads will never clog, no matter how hard your water. Also includes plumber’s tape and installation instructions. It was SUPER easy for my husband to install…I think it took him about 2 min to get the old shower head out and the new one installed.
