Our focus is to meet the client’s requirements in order to produce a functional and financially viable project that will be completed on time and within an authorized budget. These services provide for not only the day-to-day operations of the construction and coordination, but may also include such services as building design, estimating, budgeting, schedule creation, construction documents, clarification during construction, contractor bidding and change order analysis to ensure our client’s complete satisfaction.

Energy Efficiency & SustainabilityFrom the earliest stages of project development, Neumann Brothers can help identify sustainable elements that make the most sense for our clients’ buildings. Neumann has built and led owners through all levels of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification process. Self-Performed WorkNeumann Brothers directly employs carpenters, operating engineers and laborers, and generally self-performs work associated with those trades. Utilizing our own forces for key elements of a project results in increased quality control and enables us to optimize the construction schedule for the client.

Historical Restoration and Renovation ExpertiseHistorical renovations require unwavering attention to detail and strict adherence to preservation requirements – an attribute Neumann Brothers takes very seriously. Also, craftsmanship is paramount to maintaining historical accuracy. When necessary, Neumann travels the country to secure specific materials to achieve quality and historical authenticity. Simultaneous to preserving a building, Neumann also modernizes functional operations with fire sprinklers, mechanical, electrical and communication systems as specified.

This collaborative effort, having the architect and contractor under the same roof, has allowed for faster completions, lower costs and an overall smoother process in the project delivery.

Industrial WorkAt Neumann, we build, expand and renovate industrial facilities ourselves – and we can help our clients move, rig, set up or reconfigure their production equipment as needed. Having built a major portion of Des Moines’ industrial community, we specialize in millwright services for the dismantling, assembly and installation of complex machinery.

Arthur H. Neumann, born in 1884 in Des Moines, knew even as a boy that his calling would be that of a builder. The A.H. Neumann Company was formed in 1912 and it quickly became one of the largest general contracting firms in the state. Working together with his brothers, Arthur and the firm his family founded would ultimately build some of the most well-known buildings in Des Moines, Ames, Iowa City and beyond.

The vision, skill and attention to detail that have always distinguished construction performed by the Neumann family have now been embraced by a dedicated, professional team of Neumann construction experts. As Neumann Brothers continues to grow, the personal commitment, pride and integrity, championed by the original Neumann family, comprise the foundation upon which the extended “family” of Neumann construction professionals continues to deliver building excellence to its expanding list of clients.
