    Know Whats a Medical Emergency

Nobody wants to go to theEmergency Room and then feelfoolish if nothing wrong. But atleast you know for sure withoutrisking the alternative.

Many people do not act on thesigns and symptoms of a heart, attack until too much damagehas been done to the heart or itis too late. Recognizing the

signs of a medical emergencyand acting upon them can makea big difference in the requiredmedical interventions, as well aslife or death.

Symptoms of a heart attack canbe different for everyone, butknowing the common symptomsand the not so commonsymptoms might help you in

determining if you are having aheart attack.

Common symptoms: chest painor pressure, upper body pain,

stomach pain (or indigestion),shortness of breath, anxiety,

    feeling woozy, sweating, nauseaand vomiting.

Some not so common symptoms:jaw, arm, neck and/or back pain,

    feeling excessively tired,excessive sweating.

The symptoms can come and go.If you are experiencing any of thesymptoms above, it is time to

have someone drive you to theEmergency Room or call 911.

    Proceeds support the Foundation

    From thePresident...Jim Messenger

The Foundationsmission is to grow apermanent endowment so BCSSIcan continue serving older adultsin Boone County. The Foundationwants to ensure that even in times

of budget shortfalls, lack ofavailable grants, or governmentalcutbacks the agencys same greatprograms can continue.

Our 2012 goal is to become betterknown in our community. Wehave come to the realization we

have an identity crisis.Fortunately, we can blame thegreat job of the staff and

volunteers of the agency for thisproblem. With the countless, successful, interesting andbeneficial programming providedby the agency, our Foundation is

often confused with the agency oroverlooked entirely.

The Foundation provides a placefor everyone in our community toplace funds into an endowment

which will provide funding in thoseinevitable years. We hope toensure the long term success ofBCSSI.
