“4th OPTIMIST Development Cup – Kavala 2011”17–18 September 2011

1. Organizing AuthorityThe Nautical Club of Kavala will organize both the “7th Philippos Kefalas Cup - 2011” & “4thOPTIMIST Development Cup - Kavala 2011” on 17th & 18th September 2011.

2. VenueThe event will be held at the Nautical Club of Kavala, Kavala, which is situated in Macedonia,Hellas.The location of the Race Office will be:Nautical Club of Kavala,Port of Kavala,P.O.BOX 1462,Kavala, Greece,tel.& fax +302510222897,e-mail [email protected]

3. Racing AreaThe Racing Area is in front of Kalamitsa bay, Kavala.

4. Competing Classes

For the “7th Philippos Kefalas Cup - 2011”*Optimist Boys over 11 years old*Optimist Boys under 11 years old*Optimist Girls over 11 years old

*Optimist Girls under 11 years old* Laser 4.7 Boys & Girls born 1994 and later

* Laser STD Men

* Laser RDL Women, youth boys and youth girls (born 1992 and later)

For the “4th OPTIMIST Development Cup - Kavala 2011”*Optimist Boys & Girls born in 2001*Optimist Boys & Girls born in 2002*Optimist Boys & Girls born in 2003 and younger

5. Rules5.1 The Regatta shall be governed by the:a. Racing Rules of Sailing ISAF 2009 – 2012,b. Class Rules,c. Notice of Race andd. Sailing Instructions.5.2 The sailing instructions can modiffy the rules. (rule 86 ISAF)

6. Advertising Category6.1 The Regatta is designated as Category C event in accordance with capt 1 of RRS.

6.2 Boats carrying personal advertising must have the relevant written permission from their National Authority.

6.3 A copy of this permission must be submitted along with the entry form.

7. Classes and Entries

7.1 Competitors must submit their valid athletic identity card to the race office.

7.2 Entries shall be made not later than 14/09/2011, either by email [email protected] or byfax to 0030-2510-222897.

8.2 No warning signal will be given later than 17:00 hrs on the 18 Sept. 2011, Sunday. Therewill be a maximum of 3 races per day. If 5 or more races take place, one should be excluded.8.3 One race shall be completed to constitute the series.

9. Sailing InstructionsThe Sailing Instructions will be available at the registration.

10. Courses10.1 Trapezoid course will apply for the “7th Philippos Kefalas Cup - 2011”.10.2 Triangle course will apply for “4th OPTIMIST Development Cup - Kavala 2011”.

11. PenaltiesAppendix P of RRS 2009-2012 will apply.

12. Scoring System12.1 The Low Point Scoring System of RRS, Appendix A2 will apply. The tie breaking will be

according to RRS A8. If a tie still remains between two or more boats after the apply of therule A 8.1 RRS they shall be ranked in order of their scores in first race (modificationappendix A 8,2)

13. Support BoatsEach team leader or coach should register his boat the Race office. All support boatoperators must have a valid license for speedboat operation. Furthermore, they must usetheir boat engine safety clip (quick - stop), during a race.

14. Prizes14.1 Prizes will be awarded to every boat placing first, second and third for each class.14.2 Will be an announcement for the prize giving ceremony.14.3 The results for each class will be extracted by the over all scoring.14.4 A minimum of three boats is necessary to create a class.14.5 For the Laser 4.7 class has been announced in 2008 a 3-annual cup by Mr. KostasPolychronidis, founder of the Sailing Department of Nautical Club of Kavala, for the 30thanniversary of the foundation of the Department.14.6 A Prize will be awarded to the youngest athlete terminating at least one race of the “7th

Philippos Kefalas Cup - 2011”.

15. Liability and Insurance15.1 All persons taking part in the regatta will do so entirely at their own risk and

responsibility. See RRS 4 ”Decision to Race”.

15.2 Each boat and each coach boat must hold a valid third party liability insurance of notless than 500.000€.



16. Boats accommodationParticipating boats will be accommodated in the Organizer’s premises, in Kalamitsa

bay.
