ButHELPOwouldabletotakemanyinnovativestepswithin

very short timeandmake agooddiscussion in top level to

grass root level and we introduced much things and we

developed the technology too. As pioneers of the biogas

sectorwededicatetocarrythisprocesscontinues.

This is the newest update of HELPO programs and we

expect to introduce many environment conservation

programswithinmanysectors.In thisdocumentwepresenttwoupdatesofthepreviousprogramsandalsocanreadthe

voiceofthebeneficiariesofNegombo.

HELPOwouldexpecttoimplementtremendoussurveythat

isCH4 consumptionwithin the country and the totalwaste

feed tobiogas units and no one did this kind of survey in

largescale.

Communityempowermentprogramsareoneofmainservice

thatorganizationprovidestothegrassrootlevelcommunity.

The organization formed strong community network and

implementmanyservicesthroughthatandthatisverygood

platform for thepeoplewhodidnthaveavoice.Evennow

theyleadthevillage.

The all services are combination of donors and other

stakeholders of the organization andwe expect to carry on

Kaluwella Buddhist Centre located in middle of the

society.Foronedaymanypeoplearecomingtogetthe

serviceofthecentreandthosepeoplehadtosufferfrom

Awareness program about Energy SavingTheprogramconductedonGalleandour targetgroupwas the

grassroot levelandselfemployeeswhouseenergyformaking

their products. The important of the program is to save the

energy.Thereasonwehavechosenthisprogramispeopledont

care about theWaste Energy Sources.We have done a small

surveywithbaseof theCity level.Usuallypeoplewastemore

energy without any reason. Most of people dont know we are facing an energy

problembecausetheydidntfeelittheywasteElectricity,GasandotherEnergysource.

Weneededtoawarethemaboutthisandawarethemtostopthiswasteenergysources

andencourageprotecting it.Weanalyze thewasteofenergyandaware themhow to

protectit.

Propose Youth empowerment programYouthcrowdisoneofmostimportantpart

ofthecountrybecausetheyhavestrength,

unity and ability to attendmany things.

Even we decided to get the active

involvementoftheyouthfordevelopment.

This program to be implemented very

soon and through this we expect to

develop the leadership skills, teamwork

and integrity. The program design to

increase the knowledge of Environment

conservation, grass root level democracy

and community empowerment include

micro finance. The final goal of the

program is to establish a youth network

among the villages and bring the youth

crowdforempowerthecommunity.

During the program we categorize the

youthwithbaseof their futureplansand

wehelpthemtoreachtothoseplans.Even

for self employers we have planned toprovide the financial support to make

realizetheirdream.

themunicipalcosttoo. IbelievethisisoneofgoodmechanismforMunicipalCouncils

thatcanstartandweexpecttoexpandthisprocesstomanysectorsofthecityandwe

aretryingtozerowastecityconcept.

Eco Friendly harvest from GalleNow people are using thebio fertilizer for cultivation. In

Galle Athiligoda village there is a farm that usesbiogas

organicfertilizertocultivationandformakingsmallplants.Theygettheorganicfertilizerofbiogasforthispurpose.The

nameisNilkethyayaandtheycouldabletoprovidemany

seeds and plants for the people and other institutions.

Farmerhasgoodincomeandmanypeopledailycometogettheplantsandseedsfrom

themthereasonisthoseplantsandseedsarechemicalfree.

HELPOprovided the liquid fertilizer for them.Webelieve this is one of good step

because through thiswecangiveastrongmessageabout the importantof the liquid

fertilizer and its effectiveness.Thepriceof thebottle isRs.50.00.Early those farmers

used

chemical

fertilizer

for

cultivation

but

now

they

use

organic

fertilizer

for

cultivation

and that isoneof step to increase thequalityof theproducts.HELPOprovides the

organic fertilizercontinue to this farmer.Asanorganization thatdedicates toprotect

the environmentwepromote this kind of eco friendly activities.Not even that they

conductthetrainingprogramsforthepeoplewhowishtolearnaboutcultivation.

Gardening Concept for Our Next GenerationAwarethenewgenerationregardinghomegrading&improvethehabitofplantingis

very important inpresent specially in finding a solutionof food crisiswhichwe are

facingnow.WiththecollaborationofFood&AgriculturalOrganization(FAO)weare

implementing a school home gardening program among ten schools in our

AkmmeemanaDSdivision.Wegiveourgreatcontribution incoordinating&through

awarenessprogramstoimplementinthisprogramsuccessfully.
